Great idea. Good phone app that seems to get updates and gets better. Good motivator. The problem...the actual wearable band. The band won't last long at all. So, what's the point? This is basically a warning (as if you needed one) to stay away from this garbage. I got this as a gift and was totally into it while it worked. I was plugging along for two months of 10,000+ steps a day all feeling good about myself and the gimmick of the app to get you motivated was working. But, even so, it's basically just a pedometer with an app to track your results while also tracking diet, weight, and workouts along with some charting abilities (lifeline, trends, etc.). It also has some features like band vibrate alarm clock, sleep mode (tracks light/deep sleep; number of times you wake up), wireless sync, and power naps (naps during the day). Then, about 2 months in, it died and the lithium ion battery won't hold a charge. The amount of negative reviews on this thing is amazing. It's just not built to last past 2 months but the claims are it should last a year. So, this company continues to peddle this product to ignorant consumers who buy it up but the product just doesn't last. The company basically can't keep up with the customer complaints is what I gather. And, you can waste more time by possibly getting it replaced only for it to die again in another two months or less (some only last a few weeks from what I've been reading before they break). Apparently, the technology for putting that functionality in a wearable wrist band sucks at the moment. Are there any other ones that work well and last? I just gave up on it. It's too bad because I was totally into it. Then, it dies and kills your momentum along with it. What a total train wreck! And, it leaves behind thousands upon thousands of disgruntled customers in its wake who started out thinking "this is great" and then went "wait...no it's not". If anyone could actually produce a band that lasts a year or longer and has a great app with it, then I believe they would make a killing in this market because what's out there at least for this company is garbage. And, from what I've read and heard, the other ones are pretty bad as well. But, great while it worked even if a gimmick just to get you motivated basically. Anyone have any experience with these fitness bands they want to share? At least it got me off my duff. I just have to find a way to stay motivated...without the band...which was kind of like "crack" while it worked. But, now, nothing except an app with no band to sync to and one I'm not going to waste my time replacing several times a year apparently. I think they charge $130 a pop for this thing. Reminds me of the time I bought this float device you could put in your pool to automate measuring chlorine, pH, etc. and it would send readings in over wireless. Lasted about a week before it broke and you call customer service...the phone just rings and rings. Leave a message...no response. Leslies Pool was selling these things like it was the next big thing. Total garbage. lol
BUMP. Got my wife the redesigned Up2 for Christmas. I hope she has a better experience. I got the Oat color, which is supposed to look a bit like rose gold, which she loves. I'll be curious to see how she likes it. Anyone have any experience?
