Puzzling appointment considering he wrote this memo back in March 2018, after Devin Nunes issued the then majority memo exposing FISA abuses. He seems to exonerate the FBI and accuses Nunes of decieving the American people in Nunes' memo.

Here's the link to David Kris' memo in response to Nunes' memo back in 2018: https://www.lawfareblog.com/irony-nunes-memo

I'm surprised the Director Wray was not able to find someone that appears less 'political' (I'm not using the word biased to give the benefit of doubt since I know little about Mr. Kris other than what the splash headlines paint him as).

So in this description, Nunes you believe is the objective arbiter?

I don't think Nunes is objective at all. The language in his memo speculates on the reasons for the FISA mishaps in a way that is undoubtably biased. But it appears the allegation of deceiving the courts during the renewals were correct. His allegation that there was not legal cause was proven to be wrong. Kris' writings here inform the reader that Schiff's rebuttal memo was undoubtably correct, which we now know isn't true.

You would think that the FBI could find someone who is less politically active. Isn't that what we all want regardless of which side of it you're on?
