OK, I searched the last three pages of thread titles and didn't see anything, but what's up with Nachbar? I don't remember hearing anything from Van or Bill about him, nor have I read anything in the Chronicle about his lack of playing time the last two games. What happened?
Bowen went ahead of him in the rotation due to his "stellar" performance against Kobe on Saturday night. Additionally, Padgett bought himself some playing time with a decent performance that night as well. With those two playing earing more time in JVG's eyes, coupled with T-Mac's return, somebody has to get bumped... and once again its Boki. (for the record, Boki has definitely improved his offensive game... but when he would have been forced into tough matchups such as Kobe, Jefferson, and Harrington... JVG has stayed away).
I would much rather have Boki playing than Bowen. Bowen is out of control and doesnt have a very good shot. At least give Padgett more time rather than Bowen.
Agree completely. I don't think Bowen should be out there either. Sure he hustles and will get the occasional hustle steal or rebound, but his defense isn't looking any better than Boki's, and his offense is definitely not anywhere close. Boki's among the league leaders in 3's, yet is now behind Bowen?!! Bowen looks like a good guy to bring in when you're getting blown out and need some energy and hustle to rub off on the other guys, but definitley not solid part of the rotation.
Completely agree with ya. Atleast with Boki there is an offensive threat. he has shown he can nail the outside shot this season. IIRC he is like 7-10 from Three land. I don't like haveing Bowen out there, makes me feel like we have a smaller Cato out there.
Boki just isn't very good. He is foul- prone and slow. I doubt he could keep hitting 3's at that rate.
Boki can't really unleash his offense in this crap that JVG has going. I wish they can run and gun like the Magic are doing.
Well we won't know as long as he is sitting on the bench. Having Bowen playing instead of Boki/Padgett is ridiculous. It just shows that JVG will take defense over offense anytime, even if offense is what we need at the time.
I think Nachbar has had a pretty good year so far. I like him and want him to get more PT. But I think it is OBVIOUS that JVG is going with Bowen because he is looking for what I mentioned in the Rockets/Hawks game thread and that is more "energy", more athleticism and rebounding. He figures that Bowen can bring that more than Nachbar can. JVG feels that that ingrediant is more important incorporated with our Stars than Nachbar's potential offensive production. If we have more of a defensive minded PF then chances are Nachbar would be seeing more time over Bowen. I think JVG is just trying to find the right "balance" of offense/defense and energy/hustle guys.
The more Boki plays the better he will be. Boki is the only Rocket who WANTS to be better!! I can envision Boki providing some energy on a championship team. The other guys are just waiting around for retirement or something to happen.
2 losses with that type of thinking. Time to rethink things again for this important upcoming stretch of games to establish ourselves early in the West and get well above the .500 mark. What we are seeing lately is just not cutting it no matter how you slice it. Van Gundy needs to get back to the basics instead of playing all of these mind games with the squad.
Nachbar is better than Bowen or Padgett, and he is shooting .583 from the 3pt line. JVG falls in love with role players who can play some defense, but seems to let those that help on the offensive end slip down the rotation. Boki should be playing a lot more. DD
