This just doesn't grab me as a movie that needs to get made. What is there going to be to separate it from an Seagal flick? Oh, he's got a T-shirt with a skull on it.
I have the number 1 issue of The Punisher comic book in mint condition, I wonder what it is worth now. DD
The difference is that you can understand what Punisher says, he will (or should) have some decent quips, will shoot everyone a LOT instead of breaking everyone's arms and legs and probably won't be overweight. Having said that, I think Thomas Jane is a terrible casting decision.
I agree Raven. When I think of the Punisher, I think of a guy that has a huge upper body. Not fat, but incredibly big. That guy isn't it.
I think that guy had a horrible acting perfomance in Dreamcatcher. Not good choice physicaly and as an actor. ALA

Wow, the more I look at it, the worse it gets. I just noticed he's making a weird face. Looks like he may fall asleep any second. I hope this is just a promotional shot and not a still from the movie because it's not supposed to start shooting until the summer. I had read that Jane had buffed up for the role, but like I said, he doesn't look it. Frank Castle, will they ever do you justice?

Is that shadow supposed to make him look scary? He sucks! They could've done better with his outfit than just buying a Punisher T-shirt from a comic store.
If only he weren't typecast as a goofy guy, Bruce Cambell would be much better as the Punisher, I think. He kind of has the right image, when bulked up.
I know the Punisher movie with Dolph Lundgren was pretty bad but you have to admit that Dolph played the part well. He looked weary and rough and his physical size made him intimidating. I personally feel Dolph was made for this role and it is too bad he couldn't be recast again with a MUCH better script! Looking at the "new" punisher...the costume looks like a halloween costume and the person "visually" is not very intimidating. He looks too scrawny. Doesn't work for me AT ALL! VERY disappointing!
You've got to be kidding me. I doubt that a guy in a movie called Bubba Ho Tep is right for this part. I can't think of anybody in hollywood who could fit this role perfectly.
Bubba Ho Tep would fall neatly into the "typecast" comment I made in my post. I was merely referring to physical appearance. You are right, I can't think of anyone in hollywood that would be a perfect fit.
Oski, have you seen Bruce do drama? His roles in X-Files and Homicide are eamples that Campbell can do drama when needed. He's just been stuck in the same low budget schlock sci-fi movies thanks to his status as a B-movie cult hero. Plus, with his chin and everything, at least he's got a better look than Thomas Jane.
I was reading the message boards at the site where I found the picture. Some hardcore fans are PO'd because they changed his background from a Vietnam vet to a former undercover FBI agent. It occured to me that I never knew the Punisher didn't come from a police background. I always thought he was a cop because that's the way he was portrayed in the movie and because I thought his family was killed by the Mob because he was an undercover cop or something. Anyways, they're saying they want him to come from the military and they should just update it, make him be a special forces guy who was in Afghanistan. That would be pretty cool in my opinion. A military guy fighting a war on crime reminds me of a Tom Clancey book I never finished.
