Lifelong Rox fan here, but unfortunately never have been able to go to a home game (distance, family/friends not interested etc). I've been rooting for them at away stadiums whenever they come by where I'm living (MI, NY/NJ). I'm headed to Houston for work and am planning to (finally) go to the opener vs Pelicans! Is there anything going on pregame? Any clutchfans meetups at bars or something before the opener? Any cool gems to check out in the stadium? Just thought I'd ask to try and make the most out of my first time at Toyota Center. All advice is appreciated. (Also an astros fan so game 4 and 5 may factor into plans as well)
Traffic will be awful. Just be aware lol. Get in early, and you can watch the players practice. Sometimes can get a picture. Edit: Forgot about bobblehead giveaway. First 3k fans.
If I were you, I'd get there really early, like at 3:30 and head over to 8th wonder brewery and drink a few beers. It's only a few blocks away. That way you aren't paying $11 for a ****ing Bud light. It is Hardens MVP bobblehead give away night, so if you want that, you'll probably have to line up at Toyota starting like at 5 or something. I think they are only giving to the first 3k fans.
Harden MVP Bobblehead giveaway. GO EARLY if you want one (although astros red sox might thin out the crowd).
Vic and Anthony's is a good choice around there. It's a lot more expensive so that you should help the Rockets get closer to being able to show every single game on cable. Right now they are pinching pennies and trying to stream games on Facebook lol. Plus, we also want a nice practice facility for our players. Tilmans needs the dough to pay that luxury tax as well!
Im going myself. 8th wonder brewery is a good hanging out spot, especially if your there a few hours early. Toyota Center usually has a bunch of events and activities going on outside prior to opening the doors. MVP bobblehead is a rather slim give away at only 3k, you'll want to line up early. Red rowdies do a marching band lap around the concourse pre game. And if we win the after game celebration lap is so much fun. If you want to meet any a few go to smoke at halftime they are just normal guys but I enjoy it and the dedication. Have become quasi friends with a few. I think they did renovations this year so I don't know if its still there, but I always enjoy a good game of hot shots (the basketball scoring arcade game) that they have set up on the upper concourse.
