ok yao, damnit. enough with the layups, the up and unders, and the flips. you deserve to shoot layups as much as eddie griffin deserves to sit out at the three point line the entire game. stop the christmas card garbage, stop being nice to griffin or mobley when they suck, and stop the corny analogies... haiku's... or whatever. "shaq is like a white water river flowing through the majestic andes mountains on dreary overcast day that slowly erodes the mountain... splitting it into two. i must become the dam to stop that white water river." what in the hell is that crap? it's annoying. you see... that's another reason that the rox should have brought in payton. he'd teach yao a thing or two about talking.

    BE MEAN...!... OKAY?

there were too many times last night in the sac game where he was well within dunking range, but opted for flips and layups instead... resulting in a horrible fg percentage. who do you think you are? eddie griffin? whatever happened to the guy that dunked on theo ratliff and struck fear in his heart by screaming in his face? if kobe, amare, or webber comes to try to dunk on you, LAY THEM FLAT OR THEIR ASSPRINS!

YOU'RE TOO TALL, TO SKILLED, AND... AND... I DUNNO... TO SHOOT LAYUPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

COME STRONG OR DON'T COME AT ALL!

I don't think this was from Yao. it was from someone that I've read awhile ago, think from ESPN board joking about each rocket player's character.

I agree with your main point. But it's not anti-Ming. You just told the truth. :)

Yao needs to be more aggressive a lot more aggressive to become a truely dominant center. Right now, he can hold his own with most centers and maybe outplay some sometimes. But he needs to dominate to take this team to another level. He's just not there yet. :(

    Well...

At least he grabbed 19 rebounds. That's what center is for.

silvercatt, that was me on the espn board joking about all the rockets. that was my ming quote. my alter ego... "yelohatman".

i want to bring up again because the dude is just making things harder for himself.

sigh... maybe if mo taylor took him on a trip to the tattoo parlor... maybe...just maybe... he'll get a pair.

the only christmas card that ming should be sending to shaq is the kind with a rat's head in it with the quote "yao-zilla is coming". (sorry... that was gross. just fustrated because he could be sooooo much better).

cmellon... 19 rebounds?!? what? do you want him to be the next ben wallace or something? with only one facet of the game? puh-leeze. we need more of the dunking like he did on wallace, ratliff, bradley, and duncan. puts fire in the hearts of the teammates.

Lay-off Yao. He is still a ROOKIE. However if he is still doing that soft up-and-under **** next year, then bash him all you want. He is still just learning how to play at the NBA level.

How quickly we forget. He's not use to dunking and had to learn to dunk with authority THIS Season. I'll admit that there were times I wished he was flushing it but he's trying harder. If he flushed it everything then he might be getting a little too many offenive fouls for all of us to like. It's not THAT easy to dunk but he's getting better.

On the other hand, 19 rebounds! That's not too bad. Another couple more of these efforts and he'll "flush" that Amare guy off the ROY for good. As is now, he's well on his way.

I hope I can say the same about the Rocket's chances at the playoffs.

BTW, what do you think Kenny Thomas thinks of the chance to play in the playoffs as the #1 #2 or #3 seat instead of maybe not making it? He may hate the Rockets but he can't be that mad.

So you made up a quote from Yao, posted it on the ESPN board a while back and now brought it here and tried to pass it off as a legitimate Yao quote?

    How sad and pathetic.

BTW, Haikus are Japanese, not Chinese.

If you can dunk without leaving the ground, something Yao can certainly do, there is no reason to ever lay it up.

anyway, it was my quote (was supposed to be funny... sorry if it wasn't... i'll try harder next time) and i was quoting myself from my post. no plagarisim here.

Yao.... I thought there's one stretch he actually remember the coach ask him to dunk whenever he is close to the basket..... but it seems that stretch went out of his mind again.....

Yeah, I wish he'd dunk more often instead of doing the lay ins. But my main beef is the damn turnovers and not shooting enough. Last night his T.O.s were down, but prior to that game he seemed to be turning it over way too much. I'd also like to see him shoot around 15 - 20 times a game.

eddie griffin will become the vocal leader of the team before he and cuttino allow yao to get 15-20 shots a game.

i'd like to see him get more assists than shots. it'll get us out of that god-awful last place position as the leagues worst assist team.

about yao not dunking. i don't think that's because of his culture. because first of all, in the US, in the old days of the nba, people did not dunk even though they could also. i watched a documentary on the old days of the nba and they had former players saying they had guys who could dunk, but they wouldn't because it was disrespecting your opponent and they would hurt you for doing that. and china's basketball system is still being taught the old school way of playing basketball. that's what i think is his main reason for not dunking.
