Ok, I had my first day back to school today. I'm a sophmore and attend a 2A school in Texas. I knew it was not going to be much of a day, but I already hate school, again. After a little meeting at the beginning, we went to our activity period. (Homeroom.) We started going over the rules, forms, etc. After going through those, we had a quick dress code check. I had no worries: no baggy clothes, no long shirts, nothing. But the teacher said I needed to go to the office to shave. I shaved last night! I had maybe 2 or 3 little, little hairs under my chin! My friend, who also got busted, didn't look like he needed to shave. But we went down to the office. No one could tell that we had facial hair, but we had to shave anyway. I was in a room with guys that had REALLY noticiable facial hair. But we had to shave anyway. I got a referral too. My first ever. I also had a call to my house,(from the school) which is on the answering machine. I think I got detention, and that would have been my first.(I'm not sure. Its not checked, but is stated.)I got really angry because it wasn't even "peach fuzz." Even the assistant/vice principal didn't think much of it. As for the rest of the day, it was ok. But my best friend is at another school, and I only have some classes with some friends. Well, if any of you other younger members would like to say how your first day went, go ahead here.
Don't worry HS ends in 3 more years...then it is off the funny farm they call college......much more fun there. DaDakota
... you were forced to shave? What kind of rule makes you shave? I am gonna grow a beard my Senior year, and I will not shave it if the school tells me to.
I'm so happy school has started. My brother-in-law will be out of the house from 7 till 4. I'll be gone too, so I won't see less of him, but it should make my wife's life so much easier and, by extension, mine as well. Btw, my mother used to be a teacher in France. When she first started, they told her to get really pissed off on the first day and crack some skulls over whatever minor little thing she could find. After that, her students would respect her (out of fear). She didn't do it and completely lost control of the class. So, the next year she did do it, and I think she rapped some kids' knuckles and stuff. And, they were good the rest of the year. Maybe it was something like that -- bust you today and you'll watch it for the rest of the school year.
boo hoo hoo. I WISH my biggest problem was having to go to the principal's office to shave my peach fuzz...
LOL! Your school makes you shave if you have facial hair?? Who in the hell runs this school?? Marge Schott or one of her puppets?? (that is a reference to the old Reds' policy of not allowing any of their players to have facial hair) I knew a guy who had a mustache when we were in the 8th grade, and I knew another guy who had a full-grown beard when he was a junior! Dude looked like he was 25 and no one messed with him because he was like 6'4" and 260 lbs!! I have to take my first of 2 classes tomorrow night for my MBA program. This Tuesday night class is in Information Systems and I am required to have 2 books. I got one, but the damn bookstore doesn't have the other which is only printed by the University. Needless to say, I am not looking forward to this either....definitely not if I have to write papers and **** like that. Sometimes I wonder why I went back to school.
Its apart of the dress code. All boys need to be clean-shaven. Or something like that. I also need to give the school 50 cents for the razor I used. AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH! edit: I think I heard that it is a priveledge to have facial hair, and apparently some one broke that some time ago.
Most school districts in Texas require no facial hair on males. I say males cause females can get away with the "peach fuzz".
Yeah, at our school some people got busted for facial hair, too. So, it's not only your school that has that rule, it it makes you feel any better.
I don't have a problem with the rule, I have a problem that I got a referral for a few little hairs. BTW, my mom just called for some more info, and I now know that I have detention for an hour tomorrow. Although this was only a "warning." Well, I'm gonna go chill off and play basketball. Did anybody else have a bad day?
That's a real trip, RC. Oh, the memories. I was in the last mid-term graduating class at HISD (many, many years ago...sniff, sniff) and that meant my last semester was in the Fall. I grew a mustache and goatee over the summer. This was back when the cops would pull you over and harass you if you had those things and your hair was a little long, so I knew there was going to be some $h!t. I didn't care. I made it through the first day of school with astonished looks from the teachers, but no one said anything. I guess they figured they had to get instructions (LOL!). The next day, after homeroom, I was sent to the vice-principal's office. There was one other guy there for the same reason and we were sent home "to shave those things off and cut your hair!". Two days and three haircuts later, it was decided that I looked presentable. My hair was shorter than some guys on the football team, to give you an idea. I became close friends with the other guy and STILL have the mustache and goatee. Like DaDakota said, college will be a revelation... an absolute blast. So just hang in there. You seem to have it together rather well!
this is the biggest joke i've ever heard! since when did public schools start instituting crap like this???? if i COULD have grown long facial hair in high school i would have! hell, i had pretty long sideburns, dylan mckay style, my senior year! if someone would have asked me to shave them off, I would have laughed in their face! this one guy at my school had sideburns, but a shaved head... now that dude should have been told to shave!
Hehe...if anyone cares, my mom will go up to the school and complain. A lot. A whole bunch. She will use the "he's a good kid." excuses, as well as "no one else could tell","do you ever miss some hairs when you shave?" and stuff like that. Oh yeah, she'll also use the "this is what could get a kid depressed" statement. Hehe...take that school.
What the hell??? what kind of school makes you shave? thats freaking stupid, possibly the dumbest thing i have ever heard about a schools dress code. I start school next tuesday so pissed off , good thing my school doesnt have some stupid rule like that.
Marge Schott was a hypocrite. She had facial hair. Anyway, you guys shouldn't worry about this stuff. It seems like a big deal at the time, but by the time you're 25, you won't remember most of high school and you won't care about the little bit you do remember.
