Okay just so you guys know I am opposed to Carr going but since he has to why not use him to our advantage. First tell the media that if they can't trade Carr he will stay with the team (so that we have so teams bite at our offers, instead of waiting for Carr to be released), then go to the Browns and offer them our new draft pick(10th) and David Carr, for their draft pick(3rd).
If this Trade goes through we have Adrian Peterson within our grasp.

The problem is that teams would know we are bluffing. IIRC...cutting Carr would only cost us $2M while keeping him would cost us a whole lot more (not sure how much but a lot). Teams will trade for him if they think another team will but bluffing that we'll keep him won't work IMO.

I don't think it's a bluff. Here's the dynamics of what I believe has happened. Some team has offered a draft choice for Carr. Heck it might be a 6th rounder for all I know. But some team has offered a draft choice. And the Texans know Carr wants to go somewhere else. And they also know that where David wants to go (probably Oakland) has a mutual interest in David. So, the Texans do have leverage. If they can't broker a better deal, they can move him for a low round draft pick. What does this mean to David? He's stuck somewhere he doesn't want to be as probably a back-up. I can imagine this being possibly Miami, possibly Green Bay, possibly Tampa Bay. Some team a million miles from Cali and a QB situation that is not the best opportunity for Carr to play. Green Bay may be offering a low round draft pick so they have a backup QB after they trade Aaron Rodgers to Oakland for Moss.

Oakland obviously is salivating over getting Calvin Johnson. But they have such a great need for a quarterback. Do they want to fly with JaMarcus Russell and Moss, or do they prefer Aaron Rodgers and Calvin Johnson, or do they prefer David Carr and Calvin Johnson?

I would bet the negotiation is contract negotiation with David Carr. Oakland probably prefers him and Calvin Johnson to the other choices, but they want him at a more reasonable contract. And the Texans have probably told Carr, he needs to negotiate contract so they can move him where he wants to go, otherwise, he's stuck as a back up in some city where he doesn't want to be.

I have good confidence that the Texans are playing this smartly. And I do not believe that he will be released. Rick Smith said teams recognize that Carr has value in this league. That tells me that some team has expressed interest in Carr and Smith almost assuredly has a deal already in his pocket that he can act on. And he's using it as leverage to get David and the team David wants to go to, and the team that wants David to get to the table and make it happen.

I really think it's a matter of David and the said trading partner agreeing on the parameters of a new contract.

Uhh, you think Cleveland is going to take David Carr @ $6MM per year in exchange for moving down SEVEN draft slots? What on earth?

There is a song that 610 plays about people who propose these types of trades. This is almost as bad as those "Let's trade Carr and D-Davis to New ORleans for the number 2 pick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

If you use the value chart, jumping from 10 to 3 is a huge jump. David Carr is nowhere near valuable enough with a friendly contract to make that type of deal. Add to it that his contract is terrible and we HAVE to move him, and his value is very low.

When we were drafting number 1 last year, would you have traded back to like #7 for an extra 6th round pick?

The Texans have TRIED to trade DC. They tried before the Schaub deal. They're trying after the Schaub deal. They've had difficulty doing it. That might tell us something about DC and his value relative to his contract.

Please, lets just make fun of this guy. There's no reason to give this moronic a thread any kind of respectful responses. I mean, seriously, Carr and 10th for the 3rd pick? Seriously, I mean seriously? WTF are you smoking dude? Even if you tried that trade on a videogame the disk would melt.

Maybe we can package all the spare and used Carr jersey's with the #10 to move up to #6.
