I don't know if I'm posting this in the right forum anyways here goes...

I just saw that Lenny Wilkens had probably coached his last game in Toronto.so my question is a simple as this:
Couldn't we get him to coach the Rockets?

Now I know that Rudy having a big contract makes him nearly impossible to fire, therefor we could move him to another position in the staff...

A part from Wilken's situation, his firing will probably mean a break up in the Raptor's team.Could we benefit from that?(i.e:get a bunch a of players)
    Thoughts...

Why would we want him?! What has he done in Toronto except lose?

No way does he deserve to replace Rudy.

Everyone looking to hire Van Gundy, Lenny Wilikens, etc.

    please note guys like

Rick Carlisle and Erik Mussellman, Did you know who these guys were? No? Are they some of the best young coaches in this league? Yes

If the Rockets make a change, the last thing they need is a retread.

    Rudy T is our guy.

He's a true Rockets man. He bleeds Red, gold. blue, and pinstripes or whatever our colors are.

    THANK YOU!!!

if we're gonna pick up a retread, let it be as an assistant coach to a young, new guy, please! what irritates me is that people who say "we can't find anyone to replace rudy...blah blah blah...what has that guy ever accomplished...blah blah blah" bull! what had rudy accomplished when we hired him?!

He is the leader in wins and losses. Says more about his longevity than coaching skill. But then again, if you sucked as a coach, I doubt that you could coach for quite that long. I think a major problem in Toronto is they built the team about Vince Carter and he can't seem to stay healthy, play defense when healthy, and give the consistent scoring.

Lenny Wilkins is a good coach, don't get me wrong...Anybody that takes a starting five of Steve Smith, Alan Henderson, Christian Laettner, Dikembe Mutombo, and Mookie Blaylock to 50 wins has to be considered good. He's just a little too complacent and laid back. If a coaching change is made, this team needs a disciplinarian that will get in players' faces when they make mistakes

There are more 'young up-and-comer' coaches that have sucked than have done well. TONS more.

They havent said ANYTHING about his progress in the press or ANYTHING...

I think there's a thread about an article in the Chron implying Rudy will be back next year.So I guess that's a good sign...

    ummm...I'd like to challenge that.

    Larry Brown was a retread
    Jerry Sloan was a retread
    Rick Adelman was a retread
    Don Nelson was a retread
Dunleavy would be a retread just like those guys
Eddie Jordan (NJ's main Xs/Os man, not Scott) was a retread
    Hubie Brown was a retread
Doug Collins was a retread and got Detroit to an 18 game turnaround from 28 to 46 wins, followed that with 56 wins, & coached the All-Star game.
Paul Silas has been just as successful as Rick Carlisle

There is 5 of the top respected offenses or coaches in the league right now. Every one of those guys was fired or not given a renewed contract at some time in the career, if not several times.

Surely you can line up a lot that failed repeatedly like Fitch and Lucas, but a lot of that is they were known to suck, so they could only get jobs at sucky teams.
