I got this email, and without checking i clicked on the link. and am about to update my info... ...ya, anyways i click on the link and am about to update my accnt info and firefox goes crazy, darkens the website and pops up red saying THIS SITE IS NOT WHAT IT SEEMS TO BE. so ya, i relooked at the email, and sure enuf it was from some b*stard at yahoo... end result, i love firefox...
I've gotten that one before too.. but I'm not a PayPal member in the first place (nice try, *******). Anyway, cool that you averted disaster at the last moment. I didn't know Firefox did that.. or was it an extension?
firefox v. 2 has built-in phishing protection. Don't know how effective it is but considering it caught this email, I'd say its actually pretty decent
You should also forward the email to spoof@paypal.com as they are gathering data and policing this kind of thing.
Firefox saved my ass today because my pc froze, when I had a website open that I needed for my class, but when I rebooted it asked me if I wanted top restore my previous sites. Bad ass. I love Firefox.
No offense, but I can't believe people fall for these fishing emails. I get them all the time, and no matter how 'official' they look, I just delete them.
another way to protect yourself from phishing and other tomfoolery is to use http://opendns.com/ as your DNS server it is free and faster than using your ISP's DNS server, it blocks phishing and even corrects common spelling mistakes in URLs and send you to the site you really wanted
well i mean, if youve had your paypal account closed before for something stupid, especially if u had money in it, you think about the money before you think about who sent the email.
