Hey, so I turned on my computer today, started up Firefox, and WHAM! all my bookmarks have been deleted, and my homepage reset to the standard google/firefox page. Is there anyway I can get my bookmarks back? I have absolutely no idea what's just happened....

    Thanks guys.

That happens to me a lot.

I'm not a computer expert so anyone can feel free to correct my mistakes but here's what I do.I use the "System Restore" option which turns back my computer to an earlier time.

You can search "System Restore" to find out how or....

On the bottom left click on "Start"
    Point clicker on "All Programs"
    Point clicker on "Accessories"
    Point clicker on "System Tools"
    Click on "System Restore"

Select the "Restore my computer to an earlier time" option and just follow the directions. Also try selecting on a earlier day - "System Checkpoint"- like a day or a week ago.

Now someone else may have a easier way but this is how I do it.

Because I keep reading about it here, I take to saving my bookmarks as a file once a week or so. Doesn't really help getsmartnow, sorry, but hopefully the System Restore does its job.

Thanks guys. Turns out I didn't need to do a System Restore, my brother showed me a place where Firefox backups the bookmarks. Here's how to do it, for future reference:

    1. Go to 'Run' and type in: %appdata%
    2. Open up the Mozilla folder ---> Firefox ----> Profiles ---> whatever your profile name is ---> bookmarkbackups
    3. Select the most recent file. Files should be named by the date (eg. bookmarks-2006-03-26.html)
The bookmarks should all be in the html file opened up!

Sorry for dragging up an old thread, but mine just disapeered after a System Restore, and Mozilla isn't letting me import either the backup bookmarks file I keep, or the one found in the Mozilla folder. The Bookmark Manager thing just isn't working (I click on "import," and nothing happens). I went to the Mozilla forms to ask for advice, tried to bookmark that page, and it wouldn't let me.

While I'm begging for help, does anyone know the name of the Mozilla add-on that blocks Java (makes you click on the little 'f') ads/YouTubes/etc? I loved that thing, and for some reason it's gone as well.

another nice add-on is Foxmarks Bookmark Synchronizer. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2410

if you use multiple computers, it syncs your bookmarks by saving the latest version on a third party website. hence, yah always have the latest version secured elsewhere in case your pc goes nutz, and no matter where you are online, your current bookmarks are just a click (or two) away.

i've used this for awhile now and it works great!

Man, if you gotta bookmark p*rn, you've some issues. I can't even read my own articles without being hit with Anne V's boobies!

Thanks for the heads-up, ico. I just re-installed the whole damn thing (was having connection issues before that, so it was a last gasp thing) and they re-appeared.

I'm having big problems with the latest version of Firefox. It crashes at least once a day. What I did to stop it was instead of restarting it each time, I just drag the crash dialog box off to the the very edge of the display to where it isn't visible and just keep using Firefox. This last go round has lasted me over a week.

I used Mozilla before Firefox even came out but may go back to IE.
