Decent trailer, but it's not gonna attract anyone who isn't already a Firefly fan. Plus, I was disheartened to see space battles in the trailer. The TV series always depicted space in a realistic manner(i.e. no sound or explosions).
I am a total Firefly Nerd. I have the series box set and have listened to all the comentary tracks. Joss Wheadon made it pretty clear that even what was seen on the screen on TV wasn't exactly what he wanted, and that from the beginning he was making concessions for the "eye candy" factor. I agree about the explosions, but if the movie can bring the TV show back, it's a small price. Also, the whole Fox/Family Guy thing makes a comeback seem like more than a pipe dream. Watch out for Blue Sun corporation!
The reason that the show was not brought back was that all the actors had gotten gigs elsewhere. I am stoked about the movie, but am miffed that I don't get a weekly dose of Firefly...just those 14 episodes, and that is it. "The hero of Canton the man they call Jane." Classic ! DD
I disagree. While it is more realistic to not have explosions and sound in space, it also makes for a less entertaining movie. No one wants to sit watching a space battle in silence for 5 minutes. It is a science-fiction movie, so if they take a little creative license with noise transmission in vacuum, that is probably okay since they also have interstellar FTL travel.
I browsed through Entertainment Weekly's Summer movie issue today. There are some interesting movies I'd like to see.
I just got back from B&B were I bought that on a whim. I'm reading the Batman Begins article right now, but felt like taking a peek on the BBS first. As for Firefly, I never watched it. It came out when I was at a point where I rarely watched tv. Serenity looks pretty cool, I might give it a shot or DL the first ep of the show. I wasn't aware that the star of the show was the extra guy from Two Guys, a Girl, and Pizza Place.
