Finally, a really great move. He and O'Brien turned A LOT of people off of this team. I might at least follow their scores now, I had completely checked out a couple seasons ago after being a die hard fan. Had absolutely no interest in this garbage franchise. Maybe they will be respectable again in the future, this was at least a step in that direction.
Two things can be true. The day after the trade it was Jack talking about how getting an early second rounder is really like getting a first rounder. You can go back to the Hopkins trade thread and start from page 1. Months earlier I posted a rant by Seth Payne anointing Jack as Rasputin. The only people that didn't know what he was were people that didn't want to know because the Texans can do no wrong.
Glad he's gone, and all his apologists can stop trying to defend a person that's clearly been a problem and a major part of the organization's incompetence.
Would you pressure, I mean, suggest to Cal to change the uniforms and name? If so, you have my vote of confidence.
Texans without Easterby and a lot of draft assets becomes an attractive destination for a head coach. Who wants to bet that many of the top coaching candidates turned down the Texans job because of Easterby, now that he's gone it should be easier to hire.
I think most people would. New QB, new regime. We all know Lovie is not long in the teeth here. Or shouldn't be, but who knows with this franchise. I think the only people that are opposed to it are the people that would be afraid of the optics of firing two (minority) head coaches after one year each. But as I just said, who knows with this franchise. If our past history says anything, they value stability and connection over actual results, and Lovie provides both.
I would absolutely love Demeco Ryans to be our head coach. I'd be ecstatic. He was one of my favorite Texans. Let's not forget the way it ended with him, though. He sued the team. Not sure if he'd come back here. Wish he would.
He didn’t actually sue the team directly if I’m not mistaken it was the field quality company I believe… And this off season could be all about repairing relationships ( Andre & Demeco )
I'm 1000% on board, and would love that. I'll stand corrected if that is the case and I misunderstood. I just was under the assumption that there was some bad blood there.
Easterby gone lifts a big cloud but I would still have a lot of reservations about Cal as an owner if I’m a top candidate.
Absolutely. I thought he should’ve at least gotten an interview last year. Lovie was a good hire mainly because McCown was the likely alternative. But we are seeing a lot of dated concepts and schemes as we should’ve expected. Demeco would probably bring the Shanahan offense back to Houston. Coupled that with QB prospect like Bryce or a OLB in Will Anderson in his defense would make Texans football something to look forward to.
