Those must be the biggest dumb@sses on TV. I bet Paris Hilton know more about basketball than those guys. I wish TNT could cover more NBA games. I think the Detroit brawl is what really set me against these guys saying that a player is justifed going into the stands to protect himself from a cup of beer. SAS has the biggest mouth that would have to get surgically removed off of Kobe and Shaqs arse. Legler and Anthony what did they do for careers nothing and they act like they were world beaters. TNT is 100,000 X better I would rather hear chuck talk about his r****d golf swing.
TNT's Chuck-Kenny-EJ crew has been, with out much question, the best NBA studio team assembled. It would be nice to make them the standard, but unfortunately, the other networks try to hard to find a pseudo-Barkley. That leaves us with megaphone clowns like Screamin A Smith. Legler and Anthony are pretty good, IMO. You don't neccessarily have to be a Hall of Famer to be a commentator. These guys played the game and saw what works and what doesn't. Look at the players that become coaches: Doc Rivers, Nate McMillan, Avery Johnson, etc. Their NBA IQ matters a lot more than records. Evan
They could be too much of a goof balls in the studio sometimes. Like the cooking up a recipe scene or how about the fortune teller scene dressing up in rediculous looking custumes.
Those are pretty dumb but bearable if it wasn't for Scream'n A Smith. I can't believe they got rid of David Aldridge and kept that moron
I didnt like anyone else on ESPN shootaround except that one guy that was the main host last year, but now he isnt there The other day I turned on the TV and see he's now working for Entertainment Tonight
David Aldridge is now with TNT! Magic Johnson usually drops win with the crew. He's really bad, but at the same time its funny and not obnoxious like Steve A Smith.
Yeah, I prefer to watch the TNT crew. The only reason I watch the ESPN crew SOMETIMES is to laugh at their stupida$$ opinions that don't make any sense
I actually enjoy listening to Steven A. Smith. I just like him because he say things that other people wouldn't say. Legler and Anthony aren't bad either. Sometimes I don't agree with their theories, but I wouldn't hate them just for that.
I know TV programming is often more about entertainment than information, but I'm an information/analysis guy. That's what I want from ESPN, TNT, Calvin Murphy, etc. And that's principally why I come here (or at least I used to. Now it's pretty much just an addiction) Even though I do find some of the Chuck, Kenny banter amusing, I prefer it when the basketball knowledge comes through, not the attempts to be comic, successful or not. Same goes for Calvin. I'd like to see him come back, but if I could control things, I'd have less random jokes and more Hall-of-Famer analysis of basketball. 'Course that's just me. I understand others prefer a different mix of information/entertainment.
Amen brother, Steven A Smith is absolutely HORRIBLE! I can't stand that guy! I wish his ass would get fired. He pisses me off EVERY time he is on tv and opens his loud mouth.
I was watching ESPN from my hotel room in DC back when the Kobe Mike ScheffeeKsqwkejfwiky thing went down, before the Shaq trade, and Greg Anthony totally got called out by Jim Gray who said something to the effect that "nobody knows jack about Kobe and Shaq, and for Greg Anthony to come here and say he knows they'll stay together is BS" and Greg retorts "We analyze and predict what's going to happen based on our knowledge". I'm glad Greg was wrong. He was a crappy player and a former Knick who was on that 94 squad...and he sucked it up in the finals that year...career semi scrub. Back to the point. One of my dreams is to host my own NBA analysis show on NBATV. One day my friends. ESPN shootaround and fastbreak are both crap. TNT at least has star power and good comedy, but the analysis is crap too. It's all flash like NFL Live which gives you fancy arrows and sounds, but lacks real depth. EASports NFL Matchup is the greatest NFL show when it comes to analysis, and not enough people watch it. You learn more in 5 minutes of NFL Matchup than in entire episode of NFL Live, actually, an entire season. Unfortunately, ESPN does not provide any NBA shows in the NFL Matchup mode.
