Does anyone know why the texans still have him cause i am going to be really angry and really scared if he is still GM at draft time. His offseason moves were bad, letting go of three of our best defensive players to be replaced by dissapointments that he bragged about. This team has really not been effective in offseasons and his draft moves, like jason babin, have been bad. And how about that O line he has done nothing about. Casserly needs to be replaced cause this team is just not bringing in talent. I really cant tell if travis johnson is having a good season but havent been seeing anything or hearing anything to be impressed. Are yall impressed?
There will be thorough house cleaning at the end of the season that includes the entire coaching staff and GM.
Casserly better get fired. I don't know what the hell he was thinking by signing that scrub Morlon Greenwood.
BUT he had the bright idea of trading draft picks for Babbin, a scrub we could have drafted in the second round. This team is BEYOND horrible.
Actually Casserly and Capers should be hanged from the goal post at Reliant Stadiums for the mess they have created for 4 years.
That's what I'm thinking as well, I don't think there is any way McNair can keep the same personnel on staff.
It's my opinion that Casserly needs to be fired today. It won't help the team, but a message needs to be sent, particularly to the fans who are giving up on this sad sack team. Firing Capers will make it even more difficult for the team to win, but Casserly has a minimal role at best at this point in the season. Besides, I don't think Capers is the primary reason we're losing games anymore, it's simply a by-product of a sorry roster. The offseason dumping of Foreman, Sharper, and Glenn, with the introduction of Buchannon had the effect of pumping the defense full of cyanide. For your consideration: Through 10 games, the defense is allowing 378 yds per game (up from 341 last year), with opponents rushing for nearly 50 more yds per contest. Our leading tackler is Greenwood, on pace for 83 solo tackles. Last year, Sharper gave us 103. Think he might have helped on all those runs up the middle we're seeing? Glenn had 5 INTs last year to help us net 22 total, now the team is slightly under pace to tally 5 for the season (3 total so far). You might say that Sharper and Glenn were unavoidable cap casualties, but I wonder if that wasn't largely because of the starter salaries Casserly kept handing out to journeymen/backup-tier linemen. In short, I say the number one culprit of our hideous slide from rising team to papersack patsies needs to pay the price now. He had a handful of nice picks in the draft (Mathis was amazing last night), but his FA/trade moves have been abysmal. We need better. Drop him. Evan
I think people giving Capers too much of a pass on the Drafting etc I think he has strong imput on that stuff as well as what is on the field Rocket River
Kinda tough to make that assumption. The Texans were improving every year before this season, there was need for a coaching change or GM change until this year.
Casserly has made 5 good picks in 4 seasons. Pitts,Johnson,Robinson,Davis, and Mathis. Its too early on T. Johnson so im not counting him but the rest of the draft picks have been a joke.
In the 2nd and 3rd rounds you are expected to pick up some quality players. In the history of the Texans they have picked the following in those rounds. 2002 2nd - Jabar Gaffney 2nd - Chester Pitts 3rd - Fred weary 3rd - Charles Hill 2003 2nd - Ben Joppru 3rd - Antwan Peek 3rd - Seth Wand 3rd - Dave Ragone 2nd - Tony Hollings *supplemental* 2004 2nd, 3rd, 4th - Jason Babin 2005 2nd, 3rd - Phillip Buchannon 3rd - Vernand Morency Total: 15 picks 3 starters - Gaffney, Pitts, and Peek. Out of those starters I would only consider Pitts as a above average player. Casserly, you're fired!
Exactly. If I'm McNair, I'm finding a replacement for Casserly and Capers today and firing them tomorrow. Not only does it send a GREAT message, it let's the fans know you care about winning, you're on their side. I think that most fans don't expect a new coach to come in and start winning right away. Plus, it's even better for the team because getting a new coach at this point in the season will further solidify our number one pick. COME ON ROBERT, LET'S CLEAN HOUSE!
