I'm sure most of you know the story about her fight with Sony to release her album, but due to "lack of radio friendly single" the big minds at Sony have shelved this beautiful album for over a year now. It's finally been leaked in CD quality format. Download it here. And PLEASE buy this album when it's finally released.
Fiona is all for it being released, but I'll completely understand if Clutch or the other mods ax the thread. Just don't ban me Clutch, please please please.
Longhorn, I absolutely LOVED "Tidal" especially "Pale September" - what a great song. I didn't like "When the Pawn" that much but will have to give it a couple more tries. I knew that there were some problems going on - any idea when the album will be officially released? This month is shaping up as an unbelievable one in new music: Jack Johnson, Moby, and Beck all release new albums this month (Moby's "Hotel" is released tomorrow).
Wow, some fellow Fiona fans out there. I downloaded the new album last week. It's certainly different, but after a few listens I'm starting to dig it. Manny - I'm the exact opposite of you.....I liked Tidal alright, but loved every track on When the pawn....Definitely give it a few more listens, I think you'll like it.
I'll do that as I plan on listening to that album today at work with some Miles Davis. Thanks a lot Longhorn for posting this!
Ummm, don't really care for her music that much (no offense meant to anyone), but an old musician friend of mine, Michael Lockwood, played on her 2nd album and hit the road with her. He is now Lisa Marie Presley's bandleader. Her new CD, with Michael on it, comes out soon and she is hitting the road this summer. Michael's wife is from Houston and he comes here during the holidays. I need to get together with him for beerage next time he is in town. Super nice guy, and a guitar whiz & gear maven.
If you guys remember my recording partner Kevin from the Yao song and many others he is playing piano on several of the tracks on the CD. clm
Manny, this is how I feel about her sophmore record also. I was a HUGE Tidal fan, and although I wasn't too happy with 'When the Pawn' after the first listen, it completely grew on me on the follow ups and I now rank it above Tidal by a landslide. I seriously love her eclectic style and how she bypasses the radio friendly abortion of Clear Channel influenced bands and constantly re-invents her music. Hopefully the "know it all executives" at Sony will finally pull their heads out of their collective asses and establish a release date for this album now that it's leaked and the pressure is on. Hihgly doubtful, but my fingers are crossed.
