    I posted the test version of this website a couple of years ago, but the official version is live now. I actually looked up a couple of the stations near me, and they had failed inspections. Pretty interesting stuff.


    The website is from the Texas Department of Agriculture and shows audit data from all of the gas station fuel pump inspections in the state of Texas.

    Some stations will regulate their fuel pumps to actually give you less gas than what it claims your paying for, so the state performs regular inspections to make sure the pumps are legit.

    I found out about this from a friend of mine, and his comment was "never fill up your car in east Austin."

    Anyway, I thought it was pretty cool.

    I was suspicious of something like this once when I was able to pump more fuel than my tank's stated capacity. It was a nasa-1 shell station on the way from clear lake to kemah. The energetic indian gentleman behind the counter assured me that "No, no no no no!" so I didn't press the issue.

    Was it the station across from JSC? I used to fill up there, and the prices were always 10 to 15 cents higher than everywhere else. I would only fill up there if I had to.

    I was thinking it was much further down, but that's the one. All my location memories like that have been thrown off since the bypass was built.
