I just don't care. Money is way down on my list of priorities and the only people worried about taxes these days seem to be people who can afford them anyway.

I have very rich relatives who constantly worry about money and taxes and yet they never seem to be happy. I have friends, on the other hand, who don't care about it and always seem to be happy.

Money creates more problems than it solves and that sucks.

If it creates more problems than it sovles, Puff Daddy...then why are we creating program after program to redistribute it to those who don't have it????

Seems to me, the best thing you can do for people is give an across-the-board tax cut. Maybe if they'd cut taxes on Social Security benefits they wouldn't have to outlay so many other funds through other programs.

By the way...since the bottom 50 percent of the wage earners in this country pay only 4% of the tax burden (according to the Wall Street Journal last week), it's easy to see why those with money might be upset about taxes. And that's coming from someone WELL within that bottom 50%!

You know what, I have plenty of money and my taxes are sky high. Last year, my propery value increased the full 10% allowed by law. Since I moved into my house, the value has gone up $50,000 by the city's estimate and has doubled by realator's estimates.

I own a small business where I have to pay sales tax 4 times per year. I also have the most annoying taxes to do because of my business and a small side business I run as a musician. I know more about the tax code than I ever wanted to and it usually takes me about a month every year just to get my tax stuff ready for an accountant because of business, personal, investments, home, etc.

I've been dirt poor and had plenty to live on. I'm pretty much the same either way. I never complained about paying my taxes if they were $5 or $6K or if I got a refund.

As for the re-distribution of wealth issue, to me you are getting into a whole other area there. People who are exceedingly poor (the homeless or those living far below the poverty line) are in a very different situation.

The only way to get them out is to help them out. I went out a couple of weeks ago and fed some homeless people in downtown Houston and it was very sad. I cannot imagine living under a bridge and wondering where my next meal will come from.

When you deal in those types of situations, money is the ONLY equalizer. Money is not the solution but it does help balance things a bit. Think of this...

A man has money and gets arrested for rape. He uses his considerable wealth to hire good attorneys that can get him off whether he did it or not. Let's say he didn't do it. He is fortunate.

Now, take another man who is poor and is arrested for the same crime. He can't afford a good attorney so he goes to prison. Let's say he didn't do it. The system fails.

Look at the record in Texas and other states of criminals going to prison and even death row because their public defender botched the job. If they would have had the resources, they could've gotten out of the situation.

And then there's healthcare...

The only way to really achieve the first guarantee in the "life, liberty and pursuit of happiness," clause is to survive illness. Health clinics simply don't provide the quality of care some of us can afford. Imagine being a parent who cannot take care of a child because the health clinic doesn't have the proper diagnostic and treatment facilities. That is simply inhumane.

Money is down on MY list of priorities and I do believe it creates more problems than it solves but that is for those of us who can afford it. For the people who are so destitute that their lives are in jeopardy, providing them with the resources to survive is the right thing to do.
