Lakers by 9? I'm feeling the Celtics on this one. Lakers could win, but I don't see them winning by 9 or more.
I like the Lakers -9 and the under. I have a feeling its going to be a blowout and the Celtics struggle to score points in this one.
What are some sites where you can bet some money? I so wanted to bet on Tara at the Belmont, but didn't know how!
Here is a good article talking about the Celtics "Defense": http://www.forumblueandgold.com/2008/06/09/the-dark-lord/
The spread is whack. In Boston it should have been the Celts by about +7, in LA it should be the Lakers plus about two. Remember, spreads reflect fan money--not necc smart objective folks, there clearly a lots of fans betting on emotion, not good sense about the qualities of the teams involved. Take Boston with 10 points, no question. I'd bet all 3 road games on the Celts if you could get that spread. Let's remember Boston is now 6-2 versus the clear next two best teams in the league (Lakers, Pistons) over the last 8 games. They were 2-1 in Detroit too. Boston's defense isn't going away overnight people, and that 4th quarter near costly defensive meltdown was the best thing that could have happened.
Bet the Lakers to win by 20. Or more. Tonight's refs? * Bennett Salvatore * Joey Crawford * Mark Wunderlich
For his low competence level, the most arrogant ref in the NBA. I'm with you on the game. Barring something weird (like Rondo going 14/15 from the field), the Celts will ease up and the Lakers will smack 'em down and give the homefolks a show. I think it could be bad enough that I don't watch the whole game. The series won't start up again until game 4.
It's too easy to bet on the Lakers to win tonight. It's be like betting on tails after the first two flips were heads. I wouldn't call that prediction intuition. Just dumb luck and the law of averages. If the Lakers aren't a total joke then they should win on their home floor. I hope the Celts can make this a sweep but I wouldn't complain about a closer series for the entertainment value.
lakers won't beat the celts by more than 9... lakers defense has always been horrible, the only thing they can improve on is offense. so basically its the offense vs defense, which leads to close games. i betted celtics because the spread is pretty damn big and under 196. both teams were shooting pretty good last game, very small chance they can shoot that well.
just because it's "too easy", the outcome may be a total surprise; so that some can cash in on the common bets. will see. hope it won't happen.
celtics won't let up after the 4th quarter of game 2. unless odom has an impact take the celts and the points, it wouldn't shock me to see boston win here...
Agreed. Remember how everyone thought the Pistons (on a 5-0 home playoff streak) would roll the Celts (on an 0-3 road streak) in game 3. Boston not only handled them game 3 in Detroit they did the same in game 6. Remember how it seemed Phx was going to win their home games as they should have win game 1 in SA and overall had shown flashes of presenting match-up problems to SA in SA. Turned out conventional thinking was worthless in that series as well as the tough and defensive minded squad brought it in game 3 and the offensive squad Phx laid an egg to get in a 0-3 hole. Motivation (or complacency) and effort are not so easy to predict, but I do believe by Boston almost blowing game 2 made Doc Rivers job 100% easier to keep his team focused. They surely can smell blood in the water and may take no prisoners like the Spurs did versus the Suns. I am sure they don't want Kobe and the Lakers to get confidence--put a stake to them now is what they are thinking. Home and road mean a lot less to veteran teams with the mark of defense and toughness (Celts, Spurs). I do expect the Lakers to execute better offense and play with more fire. But that just means I think the game will be close midway into the 4th, unlike the 1st two games.
second to last game of the nba season. sucks that it's almost over. at least the olympics are this year.
