...that goofus that calls himself a coach, awakened from his walking coma and decided to give Yao the damn ball! Maybe now this will open some eyes for China. This concept is very easy to see, there is a 7'6 kid with 5x the skills of any other player you have. The more he has the ball, the more chance your team has of W-I-N-N-I-N-G a word that Wang Fei hasn't been hearing very often. Anyways, this new found "use of Yao" makes me revise my predictions on Yao's game against th U.S. Yao Ming - 22 pts, 12 rebs, 5 blks!!!
Truth here are the official game stats for Yao Ming against Algeria: 29 Min 12/15 F/G 80% F/G% 14/17 F/T 82.4% F/T% 13 Rebs 3 Assists 6 T/O 1 Steal 8 Blocks 38 Points here is the link: http://www.fiba.com/oneplanet/world...ar=2002&RoundID=3446&Groupname=C&Gamenumber=4
oh. not bad but you were too damn conservative!! 40 pts 15 boards 10 blocks and Wallace leaves the game in a straight jacket muttering "I just can't stop him!"
Geez Crash, those numbers are my freaking locker combination. But if you're on with that prediction, me and Ben will be in straitjackets, because I'll be going crazy!!!!
Maybe Yao did good because Algeria sucks? I am not trying to be poopy, but maybe, just maybe, Algeria sucks, but still, that's some damn good numbers he put up.
Kam, I was thinking about that too back when the CBA released his stats for the season; something crazy like 32ppg, 20rpg, 10bpg!!! That was his season average! I thought, "Whoa!!! We're getting a monster! But, then I remembered that the Yao is so much better than his own Chinese basketball league (CBA). Later I read in the news his Olympic stats; something like 15ppg, 12rbg, 3bpg! Against the US that year he got 11pts, 7rbs, and 5blks, and fouled out (something like that. I can't remember the exact stats). So, I look at this this way. If Yao can score 40pts on really bad teams, and 16pts against the best. Then, I'm all for that! We have some bad teams in the NBA too, don't forget!
I am not sure if any of the u.s. players can get those numbers when they played against Algeria... Well Algeria does suck........It will be 0-3 for Algeria
You are correct sir! Algeria's tallest player is 6'9" and their team as a whole isnt exactly what you would call a "power house". Yao should clean up against third world countries with under sized players. I would only take stock in what he does against the U.S., Canada, Yugoslavia, Germany and maybe Spain (not sure about them since Lopez is hurt).
do not disrespect my homecountry Algeria...........They have some good 3 point shooting and they are young too......
If you plugged in one of the US front court players on China's team, they would have those kinds of number. Well, maybe Wallace wouldn't score a lot. Of course, if their numbers were similar to Ming's, that would say good things about Ming, right?
