    28/32 FTAs

Imagine how many more points he'd have scored in his career if he had more performances like that at the charity stripe. If Shaq had been a career 70% FT shooter, would he have been the greatest player of all time?

    4000 people in attendance.

Rodgers had 1 FG and 12 free throws. The Manu Ginobili of his time.

i want to get confirm on his real stats.

there was a great sports illustrated article on one of ty cobb's batting title chases. it delved into how dubious stats were. i know chamberlain is still forty years later than cobb but still. we rely on those stats that came way before the information age. if it came out that he really didn't score 100 i wouldn't be surprised although i'm not alleging that. i just thought this would be a great thread to bring it up.

I wonder how many FG attempts he had to make 36.

    63.

man, they have every box score now? unfortunately, it says the database still only goes to 1985-86. damn, if they could get all the box scores in the database and get the playoffs back to at least hakeem and jordan's first year (or better yet, magic and bird's) that would be amazing.

They are there in photo form. I'm looking at Moses' playoff boxscores in 1981 against the Lakers and Celtics right now.

The boxscores in newspapers back then were not very standardized, though. incomplete information regarding rebounds, assists, TOs, etc. I suppose b-r.com wants to maintain a standard for their database querying stats.

the crazy thing is there were only 2 made 3's in the 186-184 game. and the pistons went only 37-60 from the line. though i suppose if they shot better they would have won quicker and then it wouldn't be the highest scoring game ever.

edit: damn, 4 players had at least 41 points AND 7 assists in that game.

Wow, in the 86 Hou/LA series, Dream dropped 40, 35 and 30 games to close the series.

    Game 3:

    Game 4:

    Game 5:
    http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/198605210LAL.html

    And then in the Finals:

    Game 1:
    33, 12, 2
    http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/198605260BOS.html

    Game 2:
    21, 10, 3

    Game 3:
    23, 8, 2
    http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/198606010HOU.html

    Game 4:
    20, 14, 1, 4
    http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/198606030HOU.html

    Game 5:
    32, 14, 3, 8 BLOCKS
    http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/198606050HOU.html

    Game 6:
    19, 13, 0,
    http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/198606080BOS.html

Also makes you realize how much of a stud Bird was:

    Game 1: 21, 8, 13
    Game 2: 31, 8, 7
    Game 3: 25, 15, 11
    Game 4: 21, 9, 10
    Game 5: 17, 7, 4
    Game 6: 29, 11, 12

That's a series avg of 24, 9.7, 9.5....against the twin towers. If any player dropped a Finals series like that now we would be kissing his ass. Folks sleep on how great Bird was.
