At long last, Rush has finally been nominated to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Those with the votes have continually snubbed excellent bands such as Rush, Yes and King Crimson, due to their progressive rock roots.

Long, long overdue. They deserve it, and I expect will be admitted in a landslide vote.

i about sh_t my drawers this morning at 6 am when i saw my favorite newslady robin meade announce this on cnn headline news. i was hooting and hollering. she even commented "they aren't in yet...what up with that?".

the best part will be when rush plays cleveland at the induction ceremony. can't wait to see how that turns out, if any guest appearances, etc. .

Can't wait until December 2nd at TC. I haven't been to a show since 2007. That's way too long.

Yes! Have you peeked yet at the set lists? OMG cannot believe they're doing some of THOSE songs! Real strings section behind Neill and pyro to end all pyro, will be seeing all 3 Texas shows just to make sure I get to hear all songs being played.

If I had any shred of respect for the RnRHOF, I would be pleased...but this is WAY WAY WAY overdue.

There are so many bands that deserve recognition in this, and so many that ARE NOT ROCK ACTS who are already in....makes it difficult for a life long rock fan to care about a rock and roll HOF that obviously doesnt know jack **** about rock n roll.

Dont have tix for that Dec show, but I have every plan of being there..

What? You have to be nominated and there is an awards ceremony and speech and ****. For some reason (probably because I have never seen posts "such and such band" is nominated this year), I thought R&RHOF was just a name to refer to a historical museum that would chronicle the history of R&R regardless of ranking bands and stuff.

This. The Rock and Roll HOF is like the basketball HOF. Those who run it let the wrong people (or bands) in and seem to lack any knowledge about their subject.

In before someone ruins this thread with NWA and PE.

I'm glad for Rush, was this their first nomination? Joan Jett was nominated last year as well. the whole thing is a political sham but I don't see why so many fans get up in arms about it. the sentiment lately was that if Rush didn't get in the universe would implode.

only three hip hop acts have made it, so I wonder if Public Enemy or NWA have a shot getting in on their first ballot, if ever...

At this point them not being in looked bad for RRHOF, not for RUSH. The RRHOF needs Rush more than Rush needs the RRHOF. Too little too late.

Kind of an odd thing for 'Rock & Roll' anyway, 'official' reverence.

Not a fan of Rush at all, but if I could witness this live...****, it would be heaven for 10 minutes.
