Better late than never... too bad this doesn't have a chance... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/1qy3z7XWtQc&hl=en"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/1qy3z7XWtQc&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Kucinich, D-Ohio, read his proposed impeachment language in a floor speech. He contended Bush deceived the nation and violated his oath of office in leading the country into the Iraq war.
Take my word for it, this is no act of courage for a Dem like Kucinich. He isn't risking anything at all.
I think he's risking something for the Democratic party. Americans are just looking to suffer through this last year of Bush and finally put him behind us. Most of us have already blacked him out already...this is just going to lead to pointless bickering and I think that only helps the GOP, even if they're totally in the wrong.
Kucinich is a bit player and even he knows this won't go anywhere. Bush is dead to me also and this silly act won't do anything to change that. It's a congressman grabbing another 5 minutes of fame.
This is r****ded, it's just Kucinich trying to get some media attention. He knows he's more or less a joke of a politician and that no one takes him seriously; I don't think he takes himself too seriously either.
it's not out of character for him. he really is the lone sharp democrat that doesn't play politics. i like his candor and he's got plenty of intelligent arguments behind his platforms. i wanted to see him as VP... but he's way too "loose-cannon"
I cannot wait for Obama to be elected, so the liberals will turn on him, and this country and its cynicism will be exposed and acknowledged. We would not give Jesus a %50 percent approval rating.
This is true from a political point of view. If you follow the Constitution and take a legal view he should be impeached anyway, whether it helps the GOP or not. It does create a bad precedent to let Bush get away with what are so obviously "high crimes and misdemeanors". As they said on Countdown with Obermann tonight, the Dems are just content to let Bush and the GOP suffer with the lowest approval ratings ever. . The whole ridiculous Clinton thing cheapened the idea of impeachment.
The man shouldn't be allowed to get away with breaking the law simply because he'll be out of office after the end of this year. What possible difference does that make? None whatsoever. If he is guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors, he should pay the price. In my opinion. Impeach Bush.
President George Bust told us in his inaugural speech that he wanted a kinder and more loving America. This was his first lie to the people who had just elected him to be our President. From that moment on he has done just the opposite. He is untrustworthy!
He and his paid the price in 2006 and will continue paying the price in 2008. It would not surprise me if 2010 and on the Republican Party is still suffering from the fallout of The Worst President Ever (tm). FWIW the day after a W impeachment Cheney is bombing Iran. Yep, Cheney is W's job security blanket.
Do you really believe that? Or do you believe it on a sliding scale? Or perhaps a partisan scale? Bill Clinton was in fact guilty of a crime, yet his impeachment is often considered a laughing stock and democrats see it as an act of foolishness on the part of Republicans. I agree with this myself, because I accept that there are things more important than enforcing the letter of the law with regards to the President of the United States. Impeaching Bush at this point accomplished nothing, but could potentially do major damage. Asking for his impeachment is not wanting the best for your country, it is seeking some sort of personal victory in your own mind that Bush got what he deserved.
