The Rockets are a good small forward away from an extremely young, championship team.
At Pg, we have a second year Steve Francis.
At Sg, we have a third year Mobley, and a young Anderson.
At Pf, we have a 23 year old Taylor.
At C, we have a young Cato.
Does anyone think Langhi can complete the Rocket's starting 5? Or will it be Walt. Or will it be Terrence Morris. Comments, opinions...

I think Terence Morris could be out of our reach...try Battier.

I wish it could be Gerald Wallace , only way to get him is tank like the spurs.

I don't THINK Langhi could be it, I KNOW he is it.

Langhi was the MAN at Vandy, he is smart, athletic, can score, and has a mean streak.

Mark my words, Walt's days are numbered as a starter.

We dont need some all star at the 3. We are a very deep team right now... you never want too many good people becuz they'll start complainin bout minutes...

I'd say Langhi could very well be our sf of the future. Who knows, maybe he'll end up an all star?

As someone brilliantly said a few days ago, George Lynch would be perfect for this team. A guy who is effective without the ball, hustles his arse off, plays tenacious D, and doesn't complain a peep. Outlaw is another who would be perfect. Another solution would be to clone Shandon Anderson, and make him a couple inches taller, and a few pounds heavier.

DaDakota- In recent threads you've been sounding like Francis3 and Kenyon Martin. [IMG]

So tell us, right here and now. Who is your player? Is it Langhi, "the next Tom Chambers", or Fizer, the player who you say as a rookie is already better than Mo Taylor? Just curious, because you do treat both like future all-stars. Out of both, who's it gonna be? [IMG]

I read, i forgot where (probably espn or foxsports.com), that George Lynch is furious about Larry Brown even considering starting Kukoc. So if you want him on the rockets, he'd better be starting or he'll be whining about minutes.

Yeah, but if we deal Walt for him, then he won't have to whine cause he'll have the starting position....that's a great idea....

Dan is da Man. I want a freakin Langhi jersey! Okay maybe I'm getting just a little carried away. But I think Langhi could very well be our future sf. Shooting, postup, driving, that fool can do it all. If he turns out like Dirk Nowitski, then we have gotten another second round steal. Francis, Shandon, Cat, Langhi, Taylor, and Cato have the potential to become a championship team. Taylor has to get better defensively and Cato has to get better offensively. If Cato or Taylor dont have a good year, we need to get a big guy in next years draft.

I think major piece to the puzzle is that our current players Cato, Taylor and Francis in particular have to improve.
As for improvement by off season moves via trade, draft and FA, I think Curry can make most impact to his team. Though I love the prospects of Morris playing beside his buddy Franchise or Shane Battier hustling for every ball, to me the prospect of landing a future dominant player is just too big to resist. Realisticly speaking, I would like to see Battier since Morris, Curry, Woods, Wallace maybe beyond our reach.

I think the current roster of players that we have will be able to make an impact on the league. We have two young PF's, a great SG, a human highlight reel at PG, and a young shotblocking center.

I understand the concern about the rebounding aspect (especially with Chuck gone) b/c second chance points win games. I still think the Rocks will do really well this season just because the new offense allows them to take higher percentage field goals and the young roster, (even younger now), will be able to accomplish just that. I can't wait until the preseason, but looks like we still have a month or so...

I've heard people mention Gerald Wallace, Terrence Morris, and Shane Battier as possible answers at the small forward position but what about Vincent Yarbrough???

He's only 19 years old, and I think he has much more upside then Morris or Battier. Gerald Wallace will probably be long gone before the rockets get to pick.

Yarbrough is an incredible athlete that can do it all, he can rebound, he's a good ball handler, good 3 point shooter, has one of the quickest first steps in basketball, very good passer, and a great defender. Reminds me a lot of Rashard Lewis.

He would be the perfect fit for the rockets.

    TheCat,

Langhi has to be my man, because he plays for the Rockets.

Now, if I had to choose one, it would obviously be Fizer.

Fizer is IMHO the best player in this years rookie class.

    PS. Thanks for keeping up.

There is one more piece to the puzzle that will be added in next years draft (I hope [IMG])
    Troy Murphy from Notre Dame.

Alaskansnowman- so your saying that if we have a chance to acquire a future allstar in next year's draft, you would pass on him and acquire a solid player instead? hmmmm.

Also, how many draft picks do we have next year? Would you package like 5 picks to move up like GS did to get webber?

First of all, Rashard is pretty poor at ball-handling department (got you there hehe).
Secondly, I think Rockets have to draft players who can contribute straight away, considering we got a lot of young talents.
Thirdly, we need Terrence Morris to make Franchise happy. I also believe Morris will have no problem hanging out with the guys like Cat and Mo. This will be quite a noisy group, alot of trash talking to read on the newspaper as a fringe benefit.

    Bob,
I'm glad that someone still remembers Murphy. However, by the time next year's draft rolls around he will be high profile once again and will be a very high pick.
Also, I would like to suggest all future posters who feel it necessary to include the phrase "He would be a perfect fit for the Rockets" to substitute it with the following symbol: ^

    Thank You
