It seems like people already have their hands on the demo (or the movie depending on your preference). So far, there hasn't been much except a few screens and confirmation of a Winter 2009 release in Japan for FF13. That said, some guy at justintv will apparently play the game in a little over an hour (9:45PM central). Here's that link:

(wait, scratch that...he kind of started already? I don't know what is going on)

There has been some new info in the last few weeks from magazine previews (mostly Famitsu). I sort of lost track of the information, but here are some of the things I could find:

    Long interviews with Dengeki:

    Additionally:
    and
(some of this was from forums where users were translating from Japanese. The translation may not be perfect, but you get the idea).

I know a few people will be trying to get some video (possibly HD). Also new trailers of FFversus13 and all that good stuff. Might add some stuff about AC, although I don't know what the interest is like there.

Oh crap, live stream starting now sort of...think I'll end this now.

Watching someone else play rpgs always seems so boring. lol The mom got owned. It's pretty sweet how there's barely any lag not like all unlike all the rpgs out these days.

    すてきだね

    Versus looks great as well.

Damm might have to get a ps3 and import both games.

This game needs to come out already.

Wow, the hype has returned. Great visuals, nice music, and battle system seems interesting. Somewhat clear why it is taking so long to come out. That said, I didn't really like the long corridor design, but I'm guessing it was like that just for the demo/early part of the game.

Versus looks great too. I was worried it was just going to be re-cut CG scenes already shown, but I was glad to see that they were showing the extended version of the in-game cutscene shown a while back (would have liked something a little more fresh, but still nice).
Yeah, RPGs aren't the best to watch...or really any game to be honest IMO.

Transitions weren't as seamless as FFXII IIRC, although it was still pretty good. Might be better when the game is finished (this build is from December).

FF12 and FFXI are the only FF games that are seamless. Maybe it's because they are real time and your characters are already loaded? In FF13 only your main character is on the screen when you're exploring and it's turn base.

I was very impressed with what I saw in that demo. I haven't been this excited for an FF game since 7 or 8. I'm refreshed that they are using a futuristic setting this time around rather than the typical fantasy/medieval times setting. I also can't decided which game I think is going to be better: 13 or versus 13.

Yeah, someone actually pointed out how it seems like Sazh followed his own path on the field, sometimes walking ahead or behind you (as opposed to following your every step, similar to previous FF/JRPG games).

I can understand the reasons why it isn't as seamless as say FFXII. I would have preferred that, but as long as it doesn't take 20-30 seconds to load a battle (and there are no random battles), I'm happy. IIRC, I think it was mentioned in an interview that they did it this way due to RAM constraints.

Still pretty early to judge Versus 13. Only definitive thing I can say about it is that it looks like it might have better visuals than XIII (which looks amazing as it is), although that would be expected. World map and a couple of other things make it sound interesting though.

Did anyone catch the Agito trailer? He didn't play it on his first playthrough, but apparently he did later on. I already turned off the stream at that point though. Sounded pretty interesting (Crisis Core-esque apparently).

I was pretty tempted to actually to buy the movie to get this but...

After reading about the fact that the Demo is from an old build and the final release will be very different made me have second thoughts...

this game looks amazing. Big fan of the FF series.
Is the november release date only for Japan?

Modern Warfare 2 will be released in November...That should keep me busy until FFXIII comes to our shores.

I don't recall seeing a November release mentioned anywhere (a release date for DQ9 was incorrectly identified as FF13 though). But yes, the Winter 2009 release is for Japan only.

The US release will take place once Square-Enix is done localizing the game for American (and European?) audiences, as well as porting the game to the 360. IIRC, they're aiming to release it within 6 months of the Japanese release....but we'll have to see about that.

Yeah, I think just about everything that the guy streamed last night is up on Youtube now (plus some video from other users).

I can try to grab some links, but I'm waiting for HD videos. Those will probably be the only ones I bother downloading since I more or less saw everything via the live stream.

Since this is the newest video game thread ,figure I bump this instead of making a new one

How does buying on European/Japanese PSN work? I have the accounts but I have not bought anything only did free downloads

Can I still swipe my American credit card and the downloads will be useable for all my accounts?

Asking this since Valkyria Chronicles DLCs are out on EuroPSN but not on American yet

I haven't really looked into it so I might be wrong, but I was under the impression that you couldn't do this (think you need a European/Japanese credit card or something). Hmm...you might be able to buy those PSN cards from various regions, and use those though.

Gamersyde is starting to put up some HD videos:

I think I read that the demo is ~5GB. Guess that means no downloadable version anytime soon (of course, with Square-Enix, that was unlikely anyway).

BTW, I kind of assumed that no one here actually tried to import this? Is that the case, or am I wrong? It does seem like some people in the US may be getting their copy pretty soon (if they haven't already).
