Hell yeah...No more kids! Grades are turned in, class is cleaned up, all items on final checklist are turned in, I'm just waiting on a final clearance by H.A.I.C., but that will come tomorrow, so basically, I'm done. The hardest part of my job is going to be waking up and showing up to work so that I can surf the web!!! SUMMER VACATION IS HERE!!!
So FT, do you get your paychecks spread out over the entire year so you can get that wonderful feeling of getting paid to do nothing during the summer, or do you get the bigger checks just during the school year?
We always get into an argument with my sister in law about teachers being underpaid (she's a teacher). My wife (a CPA) and my sister in law then compared their salaries divided by hours worked in a year and it was about even, despite my wife making about 40% more. We don't argue about it anymore. Anyways...I always wonder if it would be worth it to be a teacher and make 2/3 of the money, but only have to work 2/3 of the year (counting all the holidays and breaks during the school year). I think it might be worth it. I'm taking a week off next week and its the first non-Christmas break I'll have in 18 months.
I have them spread over the year...nothing beats getting a paycheck for doing absolutely nothing, although in reality, I know that I've already done the work and earned that pay. It also helps in budgetting.
I took a wrong turn at Albuquerque That and cheap tuition, late registration, and a long story. I will be transfering to the University of Kentucky in the fall. GO WILDCATS!
All teachers are underpaid IMO. Especially the hot blonde female ones that fool around with the 9th grade boys.
I was thinking that the hot blonde female ones that fool around with mid 20's IT professionals are underpaid.
Me too. I get paid throughout the year just for the work I do during the regular semesters. So I could do nothing all summer and still draw a paycheck. Not a bad idea; however, I signed up for summer school for the extra $$. I might be doing summer research too... long story (in my blog)... hopefully it will resolve itself pretty soon. Looks like they are using my name on the research, but I'm not sure if they actually expect me to participate in it, since it looks like everything has been done behind my back. I don't know if I'm getting paid. If I'm not, then don't expect me to stick around and help with it. I wish I was young enough to go off to a summer camp or summer enrichment program... like, for music. Darn the way our society gives every opportunity to the young people and not to those of us old enough to appreciate it.
How can a school bully sustain himself without the schoolyard. A bully has to eat you know. Tough times those summer months. Must live in squalor.
