I was at the game on saturday and I noticed something that made me think why do people leave Rockets games early? I dont mind watching people walk out of a 20 point blowout with a couple minutes left, but wth it was 101-100 with 5 minutes to go in the 4th qtr. It was quite ridiculous to see the whole club section just get up and bounce as a timeout was called. I looked up and thought the game was over for a second. Maybe it was because they just realized TMAC was not going to play that game or something but wth... I was thinking and its kind of a ridiculous thought but why not move people from up top to the club level, it would definitely give the rockets so more homecourt advantage. PS this is not a TMAC bashing thread, just something to put on the board other than TMAC threads
At the Lakers game a while back, I think we were down 3 at one point under a minute left, and a bunch of people started leaving. Not true fans. They care more about traffic, or they can't do math.
Haha I dont get it you pay the money for the tickets and then you just leave. Plus leaving early for traffic reasons is r****ded, I have never had problems with traffic at the Toyata Center.
I was also at the game and agree but I will say for an early season game with vs a so-called bad team, the crowd was into it pretty good. It is EXTREMELY sad to see the upper bowl packed and lower bowl only half full at times. I know this is H-Town and thats part of the package when going to see Rox games but still bugs me.
they probably get free tickets from their jobs. I just don't see how you can pay so much money to something you dont care alot about.
you can't just move people like that, you'd have to deal with people who stepped out of their seats or arrived late, they'll be pissed off if their seats are taken. Plus it would lower sales of the expensive seats, fans would buy cheaper tickets hoping to move out.
I said it was a ridiculous thought but I think something needs to be done about it. Maybe a lowering in ticket sales would help sell more tickets and at least fill the lower bowl. Its a shame to watch thousands of seats go unmanned at every game. We should just make a whole section red rowdies, that would make the Toyata Center crazy loud and give us much more HC advantage. All im saying is something needs to be done.
c'mon man! Didnt you hear??? Its T-MACS fault! The crowd ordered a Budweiser and got a Heineken...so they got pissed and left!
and the thing is there's NEVER traffic when i leave....it's not worth paying 15 for up close parking. thats when you get traffic
Then punish us season ticket holders down in the lower bowl who pay darn good money to sit down there? Just so some $7 ticket buyer can sit next to you? Not happening... Bottom line, if people are mad at the seating/attendance at the Toyota Center, become a season ticket holder down in the lower bowl and lead by example...
just because you pay a few thousands dollars to get in (like i used to do for quite some years), now sitting with casual fans who pay $7 or $10 suddenly becomes an embarrassment? how about these of you,the current season ticket holders, lead by example? they need to change the configuration of the tc imo, if they want to improve the look of it and the attendance.
Here is a way that Toyota Center should consider...at the start of the 4th quarter, if you are a season ticket holder or have a ticket in the lower bowl, you need to be in your seat. Under 10 mins in, usher can count how many open seats there are and should start sending in people from any other seats....this will pack the lower level and could actually help the team. Just because you are a season ticket holder in the lower bowl and think you are too good to sit next to someone from the upper deck, please dont take that attitude, in the end we are all rockets fans! Some of us just cant afford those tickets...nor can we find them.
I dont feel as bad about the TC after watching the ATL game..they have the best record in the league and hardly anyone was there.
Having sat in the nosebleeds, the club level seats, and the endzone seats in the lower level - if it's punishment to sit next to anyone, it's those in the club level seats. The fans in the nosebleed seats are true fans, while there are some season ticket holds in the club level, most come on corporate accounts and things like that. Everytime I've sat there I hear people looking at players on the floor and asking each other who they were and how long they've been on the team. Your disdain for people who hold "$7 tickets" is really pretty off-base. This is an argument that has been beaten to death many times, but if you have season tickets in the lower bowl I certainly hope you aren't one of the ones who leave to beat traffic - because it's punishment to sit next to those guys.
I think he means punish in a economic way, kind of like hey, we pay a large amount of money to sit there, so how is it fair that someone who pays $7 gets the privledge to sit there in spite of paying a much much smaller amount.......at least I think he meant it this way...
and I get that and I actually not advocating a plan of moving down if the seats aren't full (it just isn't feasible), but if he meant it that way, he should've made it clearer - otherwise he just comes off as a jerk.
i've got free upgrades on long international fights a few times. hope some weren't thinking it was a punishment to them. an empty seat is an empty seat. it does nobody any good when it's empty. if one feels embarrassed, one should direct his anger towards those who leave early for no good reason, or simply don't show up.
