Since my computer had to be cleared, I have only downloaded live songs, covers, and songs that from CD's that I already owned...I have recently been trying to find some good concert videos(Personally, I think I am in the right downloading anything that is live and that isn't for sale on DVD). So, where is a good place to find some? WinMX has a decent number, but not too many. I hear kazaa/grokster have quite a few, but I am weary of downloading either because of the spyware(I tried grokster last night, and immediately after downloading, scanned with ad-aware and found 5 new spyware files... ). Also, what is a good way to store them? They take up a whole lot of hard drive, and I could probably not fit more than one song on a CD-R, so is there maybe a way to compress the files and burn them? I would of course only be using them on the computer. I also have a Zip Drive, but I don't think that I could get many songs on Zip discs either.
Not audio files(mp3), but video files(mpeg). The few that I have downloaded are somewhere from 40-70 mb. Not so plausible right now, but maybe at Christmas... I would also be way too tempted to borrow friends' dvds and copy. Is there any way to compress the files(Maybe with winzip or something) and then burn them onto a CD? Or super CD's that can be bought for less than $10 a piece? Raven, I'll have to try kazaalite. It's the exact same software as the previous kazaa, though, isn't it?
Most CD-Rs hold 700 megabytes, so you should be able to store at least ten of your files on one CD-R.
There is one called Direct Connect that a lot of DMB fans used to use to trade SHNs. I don't know if they still do. I don't share any files, but I do a lot of CD trading. I'll do a B+P (blank and postage) for you (or anyone else here) if you're interested. Basically, you send me blank CDs and a self-addressed, stamped bubble envelope, I burn the CDs, and put them in the envelope and send them back. Here's my list.
I feel like an idiot...I was thinking since one CD holds about 17 songs, and one video is about ten size the times of an mp3...Well, I forgot that songs were converted into WAV's before being burned. So, you're right...I should be able to get 10 on a CD at the very least. Vengeance, are those videos? I am interested...Once I think of a specific concert that I would want, I'll e-mail.
I can't suggest a program but I can suggest a song, Staind's cover of Pearl Jams "Black". I have the mp3, so maybe there is a video floating around out there. Also the Sundays version of "Wild Horses" is very good.
