Just finished this movie AGAIN. Everytime I watch it, it gets me deeper and deeper.... especially since I lost my Dad. That ending: "How 'bout a catch, Dad?" just tears me up. Anyway, would you have the guts, like Terry Mann to stalk into the cornfield or like Roy Neary (in Close Encounters) to board the alien craft, to venture into the unknown? I hope and think I would.
Glad I wasn't the only dork watching this movie tonight and loving it. It's been years since I last saw it, and I think it's one of the best baseball flicks ever made. Coster and JEJ really made it work.
http://www.fieldofdreamsmoviesite.com/ i watched it again too hate baseball games. like baseball movies. and i just had to look up what happened to that field
Does anyone else see the similarities between Kevin Costner's character in Field of Dreams and the Biblical Noah?
hadn't thought about it before..but my sunday school group is doing a study this semester on movies...where you can find hints of grace in secular movies. I'm likely teaching on Field of Dreams in a few weeks! Thanks for your help!
I kinda hoped people would touch on some of them. Everyone thought Noah and Costner were crazy. They built things to ridiculous proportions because they were hearing voices...Their woves struggled to stick by their side but ultimately did... what else?
Did anybody read the book? I did. I think the full expression is this: "If you build it, he will come; but first you must do the work. I don't think that latter part is included in the movie. Also the Terrance Mann character is J.D. Salinger in the book as I recall. Nobody answered my question?!? Would you go?
Same here, hate baseball with a passion but I like baseball movies. Usually sentimental movies like this don't move my cold dark heart but field of dreams is pretty good.
man i didn't realize how much i liked this movie, hadn't seen it in so long. yeah even i got choked up like a girl eating a hotdog getting thrown off some bleachers. jones whole speech about people giving you $20 dollars "b/c money is what they have and peace is what they want... baseball is the one constant... people will come ray. people will come." and then of course playing catch with his dad. loved the whole thing. although i do find it a little funny that moonlight graham never got an at bat in the pros so then he comes to the field and what does he do. gets a sacrifice fly, which of course doesn't count as an at bat.
