Rafer Alston - .375 Ron Artest - .381 Tracy McGrady - .390 Aaron Brooks - .393 Our offense obviously needs some work. Something just isn't right here. How is it that both our PGs and 2 out of our Big 3 are shooting so poorly this season? Offense plays for our backcourt need some fine-tuning. Any ideas on how to get these guys better shots?
For tmac and ron - drive to the basket more and get fouled. for rafer - practice to be a catch and shoot guy.
Actually, these were the FG%s before the game: Brooks - .396 McGrady - .388 Artest - .378 Alston - .370 I don't know where you got your numbers. Brooks' FG% improved tonight, the other guys' got worse.
Brooks pretty much hit the wall and Rafer is on par career-wise. Can't really explain McGrady or Artest since they're having their worst years FG%-wise.
Yeah, I saw that. Brooks has hit his "rookie wall" a bit late because of his total lack of playing time last year, so I have faith that he can pull out of his funk. The other 3 are really worrying me though. Those 3 guys take most of our shots, more than Yao most of the time.
It's beyond discouraging to have 4 perimeter players shooting sub-40% from the field. That's like having 4 guys batting sub-.225 on a MLB team. It's almost unheard of.
Brooks - 2nd year player, slump Rafer - Whats new, he sucks. Funny how everyone started to hop on his dick and there he goes again with a 1-7 shooting night from 3. Tmac - Injuries, not the same player, bad shot selection Artest - Stupid shot selection, isn't playing like he should, sucks
Brooks- Young guy expect Rafer- Learn how to shoot...and when you're cold...PASS IT Artest- Drive to the Lane and only take open shots. Tmac- Stop taking so many bad shots...make plays...only shoot when your team needs you (AKA:Kobe) but he doesn't realize this year that his team doesn't need him that much, they NEED him to play WITH the offense not make up his own.
One thing I've noticed while Rafer has been shooting well the last couple of weeks was that there was less motion in his delivery. Not only was he starting with the ball higher up but he was doing a lot less of that right to left to right swing motion he usually does with his arms. I don't know if that was something he changed on his own or if the shooting coach was giving him tips. Either way, while his form is always flawed, it looked a lot better recently. I guess when you don't develop good shooting technique when you're young, it's hard to break out of bad habits.
The Rockets just *love* inefficient plays ... pure and simple. Jacking up bad shots (which lead to long rebounds and easy buckets because TSlack is just too lazy to run on D) cost this team tonight and will continue to cost this team. Is it no wonder we have trouble with bad teams. When your top shooters (besides Yao) shoot like that, you're going to struggle almost every night.
Been pointing this out half the season. And we're not even done. Before the game: Shane Battier - .401 Luther Head - .386 Chuck Hayes- .328 he's considered a zero offensively but really he always hit well above 50%. now unfortunately he is trying to be one Yao, Scollandry & Wafer are the ones keeping this team's overall FG % from being dead last. They're surprisingly only 22nd overall.
I can't believe people are defending chuckers like TMac, Artest and Alston. THEY ARE AMONG THE WORST IN THE LEAGUE in FG%. You simply do not want them taking many shots.
3 of the 4 mentioned are likely to either improve or get back to their career averages... but guess who has us bamboozled yet again...if he would only practice his shot and cut the reefer...
One of the many reasons why the Rockets are horrible to Watch, selfish plays, lack of ball movement and exciting offensive plays. Alston is near is average Mcgrady is a low 40's shooter anyway Artest is hitting a career low percentage No way in hell this team is doing anything in the playoffs.
Yao was blocked 52 times so far this season. third highest among all players !! What else could be more embarrassing?
