Hey, anyone knows where I can find the data for FG% allowed in the same position for any player for each season?
    Thanks.

nba.com will have it or something similar filtered by position if you want.

But that is a horrible stat. It uses SportsVU camera data, that some video software analyzes and tries to determine who was guarding the shooter by spacial recognition. It's not an actual human scout or score keeper that records who was defending the shot.

Just not very good, so-called advanced analytics. And any site which has the stat will be basing it on the same video software analysis.

yes this stat is practically misleading. Doesn't tell much about defence.

I think the stat could be useful if recorded correctly. The problem with it is that it penalizes the player who makes the effort to close out on the wide open corner 3, or the shot blocker who challenges a shot that is a foregone conclusion.

Would be interesting to have a rotisserie style defensive chart. All the different categories together and see who excels in most of them.

It's extremely difficult to track individual defense because playing defense in basketball is not a simple one to one thing. You don't just defend against one player even though you have a primary responsibility to guard one. Defensive rotation is one of the most important part of playing defense and the FG% allowed depends a lot on your teammates. One guy misses the rotation for half a second, the whole rotation breaks down. You might be the one who gets scored on but might not be your fault at all.
