So I've been having a sore throat since sunday, accompanied with bad joint pain. Since very early monday I've been running a fever with chills, sweats, etc. (still with the joint pain). I've been alternating ibuprofen and tylenol roughly every 4 hours. My temp was down to normal a few hours ago but after my shower I've had temp spikes to 102.1 and 102.5 just recently. I'm getting cold as hell save for my face and have a sweater/sweats in bed to keep from the chills. It's getting to the point where I'm pretty concerned. 24 year old male here. Advice for the temporary time between when I can see a doctor would be very appreciated
I work in healthcare and would advise going to ER. You obviously have an infection that needs treatment ASAP. I wouldn't play around with something like this especially since onset was 3 days ago. Not to scare you but a fever greater than 102 is usually a good indicator that your not dealing with something mild.
Echoing this sentiment. I'm not an expert, but whatever's going on with you doesn't seem like something to take lightly. I'd recommend getting to a professional as soon as you possibly can. But if you don't want to rush to a local ER right now, you might be able to find some health hotlines on the internet where you can talk to trained professionals. A quick search pulled up this one, but I can't attest to its reliability. I'm sure you could find something that would help you, though.
That doesn't sound good. Most common fevers break after a day or two and start showing signs of improvement. Best advice on here will be to go see ur Dr ASAP and get some tests done. Good luck and hope you feel better soon.
3 days is pretty long for a young male like you. I'd recommend the ER. Headache, neck stiffness/pain, vision changes? Swollen lymph nodes? Coughing anything up? Which joints and what kind of pain? Any rashes or other skin changes? Changes in bowel movements? Recent international travel?
Agree with everybody go see a doctor. Did you fever suddenly appear, and rise very fast? That is usually a sign that there is an imflammation.

have you been bitten by a super spider? or a zombie? in either case, please see a doctor. fever should have passed by now.
Fever and illness for 3 days and you come to a basketball message board for advice? Do you call the doctor when you want an opinion on the Maverick's signing Parsons?
