Just curious if anyone has actually kept their new year res's so far. I'm pretty proud that I'm making progress on mine. Yeah, the usual, weight crap. I want to be 25 lbs lighter by next year. I say I want to lose weight every fricken year, but after having to buy "fat pants" this last summer(4 inches bigger than my old pants, and still tight) I decided to stick to it. Well I cut out the sodas, replaced all my fatty snacks with something called fruit, stopped eating seconds, and have been playing quite a bit of ball since new years. Now I'm 13 lbs lighter woo hoo. Adios fat pants. And subway can kiss my ass. :p Any other cool success or failure stories?

Oh, and I wasn't going to get a PS2 for a while, but ... me wifey surprised me for my bday last night. Look at this loot:

PS2
FFX
DVDs: Planet of the Apes, Army of Darkness, and The Thing!!!
Dazed and confused soundtrack(old one stolen)
and some new bball gear

I feel very, very lucky right now. :D

I wanted to lose 25 lbs, and for motivation, I told myself I couldn't buy a new CD, DVD, or book until I do.

I've lost around 5, and RM95's Girl is making me stick to the motivation factor.

She doesn't know she's buying me Say Anything in a month.

damn, that's pretty strict, esp for a movie buff like you.

btw, I'm using your aussie bball tournament as a lil motivation to stick with it right now. :)

I want to get in better shape (not lose weight, necessarily, just tone). I also want to be a better person. I'm often stubborn and demanding (ask Lynus, he'll tell you). ;) And I wanted to put a huge effort into our relationship and be strong for him while he's gone. He has to do it and I have to let him. I've been doing very well-better than I expected. We'll see I guess. And as always, I want to do my best in school. My roommate has a 4.0, so she motivates me a little!

Good luck to everyone on their's!

(PS- It's hard to not be stubborn on this board, so that one hasn't been going too well. But this thread has reminded me of my goals, so there's a silver lining)

I want to get fit as opposed to losing weight. Ive gone from drinking a bottle of coke per day to drinking battled water instead. Now I cant stand drinking coke.

Anyway, Im going to get fit....starting tommorrow :p

Holy crap! 13 lbs in about a month is pretty damn good! Congrats and stick to it. I had a similar resolution but dissimilar resolve:(...cokes were easy since they suckass in England - don't know why they can't use the same recipe.

(bacon............mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm)

way to go CK.
I did not make a NY Res. byt my boss started a contest at work to see who could lose the most in 6 weeks. He is giving prizes for the top 3. I am at week 2 and have lost 4 pounds. I too gave up sodas and started eating less( especially staying away from pizza and pasta). Good luck with getting to 25.

Congrats, CK, I hope you continue to do well. We will still get that game in one day and I don't want any "I'm fat and ugly" excuses.

I don't do resolutions. I am always trying to improve myself, don't need an imaginary "new year" line to start.

Note I said "trying" not "actually." I suck.

I have an awesome workout regimen I developed that I do on my Bowflex which consists of something like this:

Day One:

Biceps - Concentration Bicep Curls(2 to 3 sets)
Biceps - Standing Bicep Curls(2 to 3 sets)
Biceps - Lying Bicep Curls(2 to 3 sets)
Biceps - Reverse Bicep Curls(2 to 3 sets)
Triceps - French Press(2 to 3 sets)
Triceps - Sitting Triceps Press(2 to 3 sets)
Triceps - Lying Triceps Pushdown(2 to 3 sets)
Pecs - Incline Bench Press(2 to 3 sets)
Pecs - Fly Curls(2 to 3 sets)

Off Day(one or two)

Day Two:

Shoulders - Seated Shoulder Press(3 sets)
Shoulders - Front Shoulder Raise(2 sets)
Shoulders - Shoulder Rows(3 sets)
Shoulders - Lateral Shoulder Raise(3 sets)
Shoulders - Shoulder Shrugs(3 sets)
Back - Seated Lat Rows(3 sets)
Back - Wide Pulldowns(3 sets)
Back - Reverse Grip Pulldowns(3 sets)
Back - Lat Pulldowns(3 sets)
Triceps - Triceps Pushdown(3 sets)
Biceps - Concentration Bicep Curls(2 sets)

Off Day(one or two)

Day Three:

Legs - Leg Press(3 sets)
Legs - Calf Raises(3 sets)
Legs - Leg Curls(3 sets)
Legs - Leg Extension(3 sets)
Legs - Standing Leg Pushdowns(3 sets)

Day Four:

Abs/Wrists(not yet started doing this portion :) )
Abs - Crunches(2 to 3 sets)
Abs - Oblique Crunches(2 to 3 sets)
Abs - Reverse Crunches(2 to 3 sets)
Wrists - Wrist Curls(2 to 3 sets)
Wrists - Reverse Wrist Curls(2 to 3 sets)

On some of my off days, I cycle for 20-30 mins or walk 2 miles. I am doing this every week now. To help, I eat alot of soy protein for recovery. I have not yet started to eat less calories to shed fat pounds but my muscle size and strength have increased since I started back in early January. It doesn't take long to get in shape on the BowFlex. My metabolism goes way up and if I cut calories down to about 1700 per day...the weight just falls off in no time at all...like 2-3 weeks I could lose 15-20 pounds sticking to the above workout schedule while eating right. It's awesome and it really works. Screw Subway. I eat okay now focusing on higher protein, drinking water/ notnon-sugar drinks, eating high dietary fiber including breads and cereals, and eating non-meat products containing soy. I eat alot of soy bars and soy nuts from Genisoy....mmmm....soy.

So, I'm happy to say I did not blow off my NY's resolutions.

I once lost about 25-30 lbs in one month. I used to be 165. I wasnt trying to lose wieght, but I started working out for 2 hrs everyday. Then played ball. To top it off, I would skip breakfast, eat a small deli sandwich from Subway for lunch. Then eat whatever for dinner. I grew skinnier then you could imagine.

I hated the way I looked. Well ever since then, I have been eating about 4 times a day, but I "try" to eat healthy. I barely ever ever have a burger or pizza. But I'm a sucker for steak and indian food. I still work out for about 45min to an hour everyday. Gotten back up to 155 and that is where I want to stay.
