Did you know that Pitchfork rated MGMT's 2007 debut Oracular Spectacular a 6.8? I mean sure it is an ok album. "Time to Pretend" is cliched and a bit tacky I'll give them that, and yes "Electric Feel" is like a Barry Gibb voice over a laserbeam, but its still a good ****ing piece of electro-goodness.
Yea, but did you also know that MGMT's sophomore release earlier this year entitled "Congratulations" also received a 6.8. Their freshman piece was a work of art compared to this second album, which I can only compare to a cup of 99 cents Dunkin Donuts coffee. It certainly is no Caribou Coffee. Oracular Spectalur should have easily garnered a 7.0+, but the pseudo intellectuals at Pitchfork were most likely jealous of Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden earlier education at Weslayan. The idiots at Pitchfork probably went to Cornell or something. Haha! That is the only reason I see for this oversight of their first album.
