Well I didnt hear this myself, but my friend was listening to 610 about an hour ago. Jonathan Feigan says the odds of Rockets landing Webber are at 50%!!!!! He says if Sac loses in the first round, the odds become better then fifty percent.

He said that NY wont be able to put a deal together for the liking of Sac. Rockets will do everything imaginable to sell him on Houston. New arena, the bad ass practice facility, nightlife, weather, money, championship contender etc.

The Rockets will also try to move up to around the 7th or 8th pick to nab Battier. Next years lineup Hakeem, Webber, Battier, Mobes, and Francis!

No thanks on the Hakeem and Battier.

Hakeem is past his time, and I dont like Battier.

Id like to see Cato's lazy ass get more minutes. He looked decent in a couple of games towards the end. Just board, and throw down some alley-oops, and change a few shots, thats all he needs to do.

As for the draft, if we move up to the 7th pick, we should nab either Eddie Griffin, or a big man. Tyson Chandler would fit our style of play. At 13, Gerald Wallace would be freakin amazing.

The next time I have meat and mashed potatoes, I think I'll put a very large blob of potatoes on my plate with just a little piece of meat. And if someone asks me why i didn't get more meat, ill just say, "Oh, you mean this?" and pull out a big piece of meat from inside the blob of potatoes, where ive hidden it. Good magic trick, huh?

I think Feigan might know just a little more then us.

I dont like Battier either. Dukies (except Hill) play over their head in college and stink up the joint in the NBA.

As for "no thanks" on Hakeem, your brain must be wrecked from watching all those choke performances by your Red Sox. I would trade Catos ass the first chance we get. He just looked "decent" at the end of the year because he probably does not want to get traded. Probably too lazy to move to a different city. Hakeem should be signed because with zone defense his presence is now needed more then ever. Hakeem can block and hit jump shots.

Now we definitely wont get Webber [IMG]

I dont really like Battier but I like the idea of moving up in the draft to get someone better.

Is my memory faulty or was Battier NCAA defensive player of the year for 3 (at least 2) years running?

If the damn league will make EVERYBODY play honestly, I think the guy will eventually be a star in the NBA.

His college awards weren't just trumped up to be an NCAA poster boy. He won more games in his career than any other ACC player. His defensive prowess is reknown and he can hit the three.

Looking at G Hill and C Laettner from Duke I'm reminded more of Hill than Laettner. Hill is great; Laettner is a head case. Battier is a Boy Scout-- albeit a liberal one! I still accept him.

Another thing that I like about Battier is his likeable-ness (is that a word?). He got all the calls in college because he knew how to manipulate the refs and get them to like him. I am not saying he is or was sinister in this way, but it is definetely a plus.

We have too many players on our team right now that the refs seem to hate for one reason or another... it would be nice to have at least one player who might get the call over someone else.

It just has to do with the player, not with the college. Brand is still averaging around 20 points and 10 rebounds, isnt he? I guarantee Battier will not be a bust. He is an extremely smart player and if he feels that his game needs more work on the big stage, he will put in a lot of work to improve it. I think it would be awesome if we got Battier because he is an awesome defender that isnt afraid to step out and hit a three. Hes a very smart player and tries to get everyone involved. And he has very good work ethic. If this guy is available at our pick, it would be very stupid for us to pass this talent up.

Too many teams try to go for the home run player in the draft and miss out on the quality players. Battier will most likely not be a star, but he won't be a bust either. Hes already has an NBA three, great work ethic, and a solid defensive player. Hes just the type of complementary player the Rockets need to do the dirty work. We also know how Rudy likes to take senior players who are NBA ready instead of project players.

Players like Gerald Wallace and Jason Richardson are exceptional athletes that could be superstars in this league but they could also be the next Harold Minor.

There's just too much of a bias against Dukies. They've had their busts like Ferry... but most of them play alright.

Laettner's a jerk, but he had game. He definitely had a few decent years there. I don't think he was ever worse than Mo T, for instance... if his attitude had been better, he'd have been quite solid.

Battier has legitimate range and can play defense. I'm with Roxtia on this one. The only real question seems to be his agility. If he's solid there, I don't see why he won't be a legitimate NBA starter.

Screw Battier's flopping ass. I'd prefer Jefferson

I was curious about this as well.
Is Battier a Flopper ala the Jazz?
Some of his charges i say in the tourney
    were a bit suspect. . . .

    DO WE WANT A FLOPPER?

Battier is a flopper just enough to keep the stronger post up players honest. I don't think he flops on the order of the Utah Jazz.

He won't be as effective defensivley in the league as far as charges and steals go, but he will still be a great team defender.

This is exactly what I have been thinking. Battier is the safest pick at SF in the draft. There is no way he will be a bust, b/c he is all about fundamentals...just like Tim Duncan. He may not be the most talented or look better than some of the others at first, but it would be a disaster if the Rockets got someone else thinking they are the man and he ends up busting. Battier is the safe way to go.
