Sup old heads and new? I've been so busy lately, i haven't been on the board in almost 1yr or so. I've glanced through some of the newer posters and old alike, and the board really haven't changed. After seeing what Amare did in the post-season, i knew alot of people would be jumping off of Ming bandwagon, but I think Ming and the Rox will be in a title game before Amare and the Suns. Some may think thats crazy considering what the Suns just did, but i think the philosophy of the Rockest will prevail before the suns strategy. I've seen the suns idea of hoops and it started with the 98 kings and 99 mavs. Yeah they win games and were young and upcoming, but after a few yrs of losing to La and Sa , they started retooling because of the way they play defense. The Rox formula is there starting with a good defense, now they just have to tinker with a player or 2. Many will say Amare can get better, but so can Ming. Ming is getting better in the post where as Amare is pretty much a face up pur the ball on the floor type player similar to David Robinson was in his youth, When the team really needed a basket, if Avery didn't penetrate and kick to him, he had problems scoring in the crucial spots. Once Ming continues his developement of post play and command double teams, the Rox are going to very hard to beat by anyone. His stamina is what will determine how good Yao will be. If he gets his stamina to where he can be aggressive for 37mins a night, his silly fouls will drop and he will be a consistent 22ppg player. All is still good in the hood.
welcome back, lee. Has it been a year? It feels both longer and shorter than that. Oh yeah, nice post. I'm encouraged to hear that Yao is taking this offseason seriously. Others have said it before, but I think the only person holding back Yao is himself. Maybe I'm just impatient, but I want to see him "turn the corner" as described in another thread.
Welcome back Lee. I agree- Rox are on the right track with defensive mind set. Glad to see you backbb
welcome back lee. you have a great knowledge of basketball even though i remember disagreeing with atleast half of what you said. anyways i concur here, yao isn't that far off. foul trouble improvement alone will increase his productivity but i expect him to come into next season on a mission.
Yeah, I've discussion with alot of people, but as hoop junkies, more of us need to be students of the game instead of fans. Any trade I've proposed on this board always has made sense for both teams. Whenever i talk about players, i try to talk in terms of strength and weakness and ability. I watch alot of basketball, and not just the Rox. I just try to be real. If anyone has sirrius sat radio, kenny smith has a show on from 11-2 mon-fri. I talk hoops everyday to the point i have a theme song on the show.
Welcome back and I agree good post. The Suns don't scare me. They have a good team with talented players..but Spurs beat them, and Rockets can too. Of course the Suns will get better too and improve their team..but I think they will lose Joe Johnson. They will most likely still play their run & gun game..and it doesn't look like they will improve their defense. Amare has drastically improved his game..and well I guess they could improve their defense. I feel like the Rockets can beat them as Yao improves and we get some younger, quicker, more athletic players in and mix them with our veterans. Now we have to get SAR from Portland..not Atlanta
let's hope so, but I do think right now AMARE already one step ahead than YAO. Amare is the second best big man next to TD. lok at his number, man, so scary!!!! and he is only 22 years old. But what about B. Wallace as 3rd NBA team center, so ridicious! look at him, his game is really 1-D, how come he ranked ahead YAO! he just got beated up by 70% SHAQ w/ R.Wallace aside him?!!!
leebigezz is back. awesome! we missed you during the season man. now all we need is the poster 'verse' to make it back.
