Wonder it will at least have tabbed browsing? Until they add that feature IMO it cant be considered a legitimate alternative to Firefox.
Like it or not, some people are going to use IE. So anything Microsoft can do to make it better is a plus in my book. While they need to incorporate tabs into IE, here's the list of priorities, in my opinion. 1. Security (No more welcome mat laid out for all malicious code) 2. Standards (Things like XHTML, CSS2, CSS3, and PNG graphics must be addressed) 3. Features (Tabs, at least a basic download manager, RSS) At this point, I'm having a hard time seeing Microsoft making significant improvements in each of these areas. But I would think that they have to do more than add security fixes, otherwise it wouldn't really merit the "Internet Explorer 7" name. It would be nothing more than Service Pack 3. If they're smart (which I have mixed feelings about), they will do more than take aim at Firefox 1.0. By the time IE7 makes it out of beta, Firefox 1.0 will no longer be the current version. They also announced today that Microsoft's antispyware will be free for personal use. That's good news as well. Slapping a bandage on a head wound isn't likely going to alleviate the problem, but that doesn't mean it's not helpful.
har har, and I spent all day today trying to get rid of a million parasites not to mention a nasty backdoor.hoxdoor (sp) virus in my bosses computer, but to no avail! Thanks to IE, looks like we're gonna have to do a clean sweep! He had never heard of Firefox but from now on, I'm making sure everyone in the office uses only Firefox. so yeah....NO THANKS!
