Last night, I made a stupid decision to let a friend drive my car after I was unable to. In the process, he hit a car while turning into a parking spot. Their car got dinged up a bit, but mine had a few scratches. My friend then suggested we just leave, but I could not do it. After I refused to leave without giving any information, he then said he would pay for the damages, so we left them his information. Feeling terrible right now, thinking about going back and leaving my info.
He was the stupid ass for hitting the car man, you shouldn't feel guilty for leaving his info. Your friend sounds like a prick here.
Good job on you, then, for handing over the keys. You should only feel guilty if you had pledged to remain sober before hand. If he was competent to drive, and he agreed to do so, it's not your fault. If the damages are insignificant enough, once he is contacted by the owner of the parked car, you might want to offer to split the repair costs with him out-of-pocket, so that his insurance is not negatively affected. If your friend was sober, what made him such a lousy driver in this instance?
It's understandable that you feel "bad" because your friend was involved. We all care about our buddies. However, you are not the one at fault here, mainly because you weren't driving. At least you all left some sort of information, even if the damages were minor. See if you even get a call...the damage may have been minor enough that you won't. Good luck.
I was pointing out that he isn't as boisterous in other areas. Thought it was pretty cut and dry... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hh81LMz1sPo&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hh81LMz1sPo&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Off to watch the game.
Well. He hit the car, and then wanted to run away without leaving info. You shouldn't feel guilty whatsoever.
I had the same issue a couple of months back. And i'm in College for the old men who hate HS people. The only difference between this story and mine was that I was drunk (my friend couldn't drive because a couple hours before going to the club he got his license confiscated for driving drunk) at that time I was still good. After that, a fight started and we had to leave in a rush, I hit the car, didn't leave no info, but called the police the morning after to declare the problem. We where able to locate the car and solve the problem since then. good luck with your story, and don't feel guilty.
******* it, FFB always hijacks the thread and makes it about him. I came in here expecting an epic topic where everyone rags on the TC for letting his friend drive.
