I ordered something online and it shipped out on 1/31 using FedEx SmartPost. For those who don't know, SmartPost is a (very) basic service that hands off the package to USPS when it reaches the destination city. Anyway, I live in Austin and I've been tracking the package for the past several days. A couple of days ago, the package arrived in Dallas and then left Dallas that same night. I check again today and the package arrived in Houston. I did some searching and found that there are SmartPost hubs in Dallas and Houston, but I was expecting it come straight from Dallas to Austin. I wanted to make sure the shipping address was correct so I checked my order on the sellers website. Long story short, the seller's site copied the billing address into the shipping address, so I had to check the box for a different shipping address and change it manually before finalizing the order. I guess I forgot to change the ZIP (the billing ZIP is Houston), but the street address, city, and state are fine (the Austin address). Do I have anything to worry about, or will FedEx figure it out?
Why not call the shipper and tell them? If the address is a legit (albeit wrong) address, FedEx has no reason to think they made a mistake (which they really didn't), do they?
FedEx should figure it out. When my customers put in their wrong address, UPS/FedEx charges me $11 for fixing it.
Ok. That makes me feel a bit better. I contacted the seller and they said that they couldn't do anything about it since it already shipped. I was going to try and call FedEx, but I'm not sure if they'll do anything since I'm not the shipper. I guess maybe I should just wait and see?
