I love Brett Favre. And I mock Sage Rosenfels.

But at this point, I think the Vikes might be better off with Mr. Helicopter, Sparky McRosenfumbles.

Just retire Favre and leave the NFL alone.

Any doubts as to whether or not he had anything left in the tank were removed last Nov-Dec when it was proven conclusively that there was nothing left in the tank.

he's retired--i think he's staying retired. i'm hoping this is just so he can hope damages are repaired and he can officially retire as a Packer..

I want to believe that, but the inclusion on the phrase "at this time" in his statement sounds all too familiar.

With that said, I agree with Max that Rosenfels is the better option for the Vikings. But PR and marketing plays a big role in sports, and name recognition guides that. I think Favre will make some overtures behind the scenes to see if the Vikes are interested -- if they're not, we probably won't hear anything about it for years, if ever. And I don't think they should be. But big names have a funny way of getting things accomplished sometimes.

I hope he signs with the Vikings since he's had some of his worst games at the Metrodome. While there will be a ton of love for him at first the minute he throws his first interception on a crazy pass you will see the die hard Viking fans remember that they hated this guy for most of his career. Not to forget that all those Green Bay faithful who live in MN and Western Wisconsin still haven't forgiven him.

Hopefully once the Vikings finish with another mediocre record and out of the playoffs that will finally convince Favre to retire.
