btw, can't wait to see "Pearl Harbor". The trailer looked awesome in theaters.

Good morning Vietnam - not so much in fighting performance, but what gets this movie over the top is the unique niche of the war which helped convey deep emotional strife.
    Saving private Ryan - Obvious.
Full Metal Jacket - Classic.."how much I get for $10 dollars"... [IMG]

    In no order....

Saving Private Ryan (But I had issues with much of it)
    Thin Red Line
    Braveheart
    The Patriot
    Good Morning Vietnam
    Full Metal Jacket

    Hell, I love 'em all....

Some oldies but goodies, "Sergeant York", "Remember the Alamo" (John Wayne), "D-Day" (I think it was called, I think John Wayne was in that one too), what was that one with Charles Bronson, Jim Brown and some other stars? That one was good.

Every time I see that "Pearl Harbor" preview, it makes me wanna go enlist. And, I don't particularly want to enlist. It's just that whole, "Protect our soil" type of thing....

I love the Big Red One...
We (me and friends) would watch it on HBO all the time, especially since it had Luke Skywalker in it! (Mark Hamill) The scenes in the desert in Africa were pretty good too!

I enjoyed the movie because it showed the campaigns and battles these guys fought to get to Europe. It was one of the first "war" movies I was turned on to and my friends and I would spend hours in the library checking out "war" books and drawing scenes and stuff for hours...

oh well.. I've reminesced too long.

Anybody ever see "The Big Red One"?

It stars Lee Marvin and Mark Hamill, and came out sometime in the early 80s. It was directed by Samuel Fuller, and it has been called one of the most accurate portrayals of wartime infantry ever. Fuller was an infantryman in Europe during WW2 and the movie is very autobiographical. It's a good one and I highly recommend it.
