So, reading that 10 commandments of drinking got me to thinking, what are your favorite types of beer? Are you a domestic man, or an import fellow? Do you prefer dark, or light? Do you steer clear of alcohol... period? Personally, it depends. I usually go for the Shiner, Red Stripe, or Killians (if I have the money of course). If not, I usually head for the Tecate, Busch, Lone Star, or Budweiser. Shiner is #1, IMO.
Miller Lite is probably the one I drink the most (typically while boating or at some kind of sporting event) Paulaner Hefeweizen, Augustiner (Edelstoff, Lagerbier Hell), Spaten are my favorites (yes, heavy Munich bias, since I used to work there and would frequent their beer halls and gardens)...
Grolsch Delerium Tremens Stella Artois Multiple Hefeweizens (sic?) Pilsner Urquell Shiner Bock Becks St. Pauli Girl Guiness Chimay White Red Stripe Modelo Especial Negro Modelo all depends on the mood
Favorite Beers (no particular order): Miller Lite Dos Equis Shiner Fat Tire Red Stripe Stella Tequate Heineken Any Hefeweizen
Favorite drinking beer: Wells Bombadier. I could drink gallons of the stuff all day everyday. I'm also partial to the St. Bernardus Abt12. A really nice sipping beer is the Ola Dubh; its an ale aged in whiskey casks. Besides the Bombadier, if I'm just watching the game or something, I'll drink Bud/Coors/Miller or if I'm lucky some Shiner Bock.
idk why but for some reason I can't drink beer, it just tastes so nasty to me I drink everything else though
Beer is almost like a hobby to me. I love trying new types of beer, although, as a student, I don't get the chance to try some of the more expensive beers. Favorite beer: Dos Equis Amber (w/lime, but still great w/o lime). Most Consumed Beer: Bud Light (hey, it's cheap, every bar has it, and I enjoy the taste) Favorite Budget Beer: Keystone Light. Tastes like the liquid at the bottom of a garbage can, but still not as bad as other cheap beer. Other beer I really enjoy in order of most consumed to least consumed: Rolling Rock, Newcastle, Killian's Irish Red. I am from Texas and still technically a resident of Texas, but a beer that makes me wish I still lived in Texas is Lone Star. For a cheap beer, it's pretty good. There is a local bar here that specializes in offering a wide variety of beer...it's the only place I can find Lone star. The worst macrobrew: Miller Light. The beer I don't understand: Shiner Bock. It's not BAD, per se. I don't gag when I drink it, but then again, I don't really taste much, either. There's just very little flavor to this beer when I drink it. I think it has less flavor than any light beer macrobrew on the market. The worst beer I've ever had: b**** Creek. Yes, there really is a beer called b**** Creek. Some co-workers of my best friend went on a trip through Montana, Idaho, etc...and picked up this microbrew for my best friend based on the name. Well, the beer is straight ****. I'd rather taste the unwashed anus of an aids infested prostitute than drink this beer again.
SirCharles, I assume you've been to the Flying Saucer. I'm a type of guy that enjoys trying new beer as well. I, like you, don't get too afford the luxury of expensive beer. So I try to limit myself to what I know... most of the time. I love Shiner. I think it has great flavor. I remember the night I picked one up for the first time... it was love at first sip. A friend of mine was feeling rather jolly one year. He was in the Christmas spirit, so he decided to buy this chocolate beer. Long story short, it was the worst thing I ever put in my mouth. I don't even recall the name, but man... yuck!
I like the Fishhead IPAs as well. I mostly drink Speakeasy IPA and Big Sky IPA. I'm also a fan of Pilsners. Shiner bock is gross.
We've had several of these threads FYI if you want to search them for other ideas. My favorites these days: Miller Lite is what I drink the most, though isn't my favorite beer. On days I'm only having a couple or want to mix it up, these are my favorites: Any Saint Arnolds, but my favorites are the Amber and Christmas Ales. Bohemia Pacifico Guinness Stella Artois Smithwick's Session Duvel Dos Equis Lager Sam Adams Winter Lager Sierra Nevada Celbration Ale Yeah I like beer a whole whole bunch.
