Yea i was wondering what you bbs posters fav type of music is? Me, i like punk rock or as BGM would say bubblegum punk as well as some other alternative bands. Here is a list of my fav bands (not in any particular order) 1.Blink 182 2.New Found Glory 3.Incubus 4.Hoobastank 5.Sum 41 6.Jimmy Eat World 7.Fenix TX there is more but i dont want to make this post to long.
I'm into edgy-altenative-rock type bands. I know that doesn't make sense, but I don't think the bands I like can be so easily lumped into groups like metal, alternative, rock..ect. 1. TOOL 2. Rage against the Machine 3. Deftones 4. Static-X 5. Staind(pre breaking the cycle, even though most like it I like the old angry Staind instead of the new "sad and deep" Staind)
Hip Hop and R&B [I like most music] 1. Tupac 2. Public Enemy 3. The Coup 4. Ghetto Boys 5. Joe Rocket River
I live in the past: Bon Jovi Death Row pre '97 Aerosmith Madonna Stone Temple Pilots Kool & the Gang J. Geils Band
I guess you'd call these bands alt-rock, i really don't know: Adema Puddle of Mudd System of a Down Stavesacre Bush Three Doors Down Staind Can anyone tell me, are those considered alt-rock, or something else? Lately I've also been listening to this Irish punk band called Flogging Molly. They've got a punk meets Irish pub sound. Really cool, really different. Tomorrow I will be jamming... System of a Down.
Well, here's a few... The 13th Floor Elevators Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks The Kinks David Bowie The Stones Shawn Colvin Joe Ely Roy Orbison Traffic Hendrix kd lang Led Zeppelin Spirit Buffalo Springfield... guess I'll quit. I was trying to think of people I've seen.
Basically fast music of any genre is good for me and I would choose pop as my favorite. although really good techno is hard to beat. even the other genre stuff is the poppier stuff from that genre. 1. Madonna 2. Creedence Clearwater Revival 3. Britney Spears 4. Dixie Chicks 5. Elvis any order of Shania Twain Rolling Stones Weird Al Prince then people like the gogos zztop dr. dre groups i can't think of right now
I only consider like 4 genres of music as distinct, everything else is a subgroup or a crossover, so I will just list some of my fav performers/bands. Counting Crows Sarah McLachlan Dave Matthews Band Madonna Hootie and the Blowfish Enya KMFDM REM Abra Moore A3 (the Sopranos theme song) AAF The Cranberries Edit: Forgot Pearl Jam, doh!
Good call on KMFDM, Hydra. "Nihil" is my favorite non-NIN Industrial CD that I own. arkoe: I think all those bands could be classified as "pop rock trying to be alternative". Reminds me of the Buzz radio station...those are bands that they would play. I really like about every type of music even classical, but I cannot stand Hard Core Country, Bluegrass, and Bubblegum Pop (even though I still have CDs of that genre). I don't have any Blues CDs but I don't think I dislike that genre. The main stuff I like is techno/electronica, jazz, hard rock, heavy metal, punk (not Pop punk, SonicsGM), industrial, grunge, and solo women songwriter types like Beth Orton, Liz Phair, etc. Here are artists that I like in which I have at least 3 or more CDs by: Aphex Twin Beach Boys Beatles Bee Gees Bjork Chemical Brothers Cocteau Twins John Coltrane Miles Davis Dead Can Dance Delerium/FLA/Bill Leeb Enigma Everclear Faithless/Dido (Rollo's sister, Rollo heads up Faithless) Fatboy Slim Peter Gabriel Goo Goo Dolls Joy Division Kraftwerk Massive Attack Sarah McLachlan Meat Loaf Moby New Order Nine Inch Nails The Orb Orbital Elvis Presley Prodigy Radiohead Smashing Pumpkins Tool Underworld Mercifully, that is all (for now).
My favorite type of music is the blues. After that, I like Texas blues, Lousiana blues, and Chicago blues.
Almost any kind of rock. Favorite band: U2. Some country, but only a little; too much of it is geared toward the female demographic. A recent Rolling Stone article broke all this down: country radio's format is geared toward their sponsors; the radio jingles are aimed at the females, i.e., brand-name buyers. Alan Jackson lampooned country radio format in a song called (something like) "Three Minute Positive Upbeat Not Too Country Song." Brazilian music: samba, bossa nova, tropicalismo, forró. Caetano Veloso is awesome.
I like all types of music, but my favorite is Indie Rock. I'm one of those elitist snobs, who hates everything on the radio! Just kidding. But I rarely listen to anything that's played on the radio anymore.
Everybody, do yourself a favor and go pick up the new Wilco album, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. If you haven't heard Wilco, then you need to get their first album, A.M., while you're at it. Heck, might as well get Being There and Summer Teeth, too. Wilco: Best...Band...Ever.
I'll do the same thing Manny did: Aerosmith Alice in Chains Barenaked Ladies Beastie Boys The Beatles Beck Better Than Ezra The Black Crowes Blur Blues Traveler Jeff Buckley Counting Crows The Cure De La Soul Neil Diamond Fatboy Slim Bela Fleck Foo Fighters G. Love and Special Sauce Grateful Dead Ben Harper Helmet Hootie and the Blowfish Incubus Chris Isaak Jane's Addiction The Jayhawks Lenny Kravitz Robert Earl Keen Live Lyle Lovett Bob Marley Dave Matthews Band moe. Nirvana Oasis Our Lady Peace Pearl Jam Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Phish The Pharcyde Pink Floyd Radiohead Rage Against the Machine REM The Roots Santana Smashing Pumpkins Sonic Youth Son Volt Soundgarden Stone Temple Pilots The String Cheese Incident Matthew Sweet Travis A Tribe Called Quest 2Pac U2 Weezer Widespread Panic Wilco
