These are the types I've eaten before. I left out quail, venison, and a few others, so that's why the "other" is in there. Just curious to see what your favorite is, and why? Recipes would be good here, as well. My personal Favorite is Elk meat. If you haven't tried it yet, you're missing out. I haven't personally had it in a couple of years, so I'm craving it. Best part about Elk is that it can be used in any beef recipe, but it tastes sooo much better. The extra benefit, is that it is much healthier for you. Downside is that it's expensive as hell. For anyone who hasn't tried it yet, and is willing to pay about $10 a pound (it is worth a try!), go to www.jamisonfarms.com My rankings: 1. Elk 2. Lamb 3. Beef 4. Quality Fish 5. Shellfish 6. Buffalo 7. Ostrich 8. Pork 9. The lowly chicken
sorry to be so non-exotic, but IMO, nothing beats a good cut of smoked beef not a big fan of chicken or turkey, but ground turkey is an EXCELLENT substitute for ground beef (we use it for everything)
Lobster followed by scallops. After that it's all in the preparation. Edit: Ooooh and King Crab legs - it's been so long I forgot to add them to my list.
The dead kind. I like all the ones you listed if cooked right. I buy elk and venison (how could you not list this?!) jerky in Centerville occasionally. The jerky isn't as good as the "regular" cooked meat, but yeah, it's kind of expensive.
Gross! Just kidding. I can eat turkey, but I can't substitute it for beef. If I do, I'd have to use a ton of spices and stuff in it to hide the "hey, it's really not beef flavor".
I voted for shellfish also. Today for lunch I had oyster bar trash at Floyds (errr now its the Mardi Gras Grill) on Durham near washington. Lump crab meet and shrimp blackened in butter... emmmm good.
I can't remember the last time we bought ground beef. I can't answer this question. I love them all. RMTex, you should try some jalepeno buffalo sausage from Midway out in Katy. Good stuff.
I chose "Quality Fish", but I wish you just had "Fish" up there as a choice instead. Why you ask? My favorite all time fast food sandwich/burger is the McDonald's "Filet-O-Fish", and I even prefer it over a nice wild caught salmon filet 99% of the time. Viva Le Filet-O-Fish! Viva!!!!!!!
fish tacos, mmm. ... Then, sometimes, just that smooth, sweet taste, a little salty, raw, like sushi. Or piquant, a spicy tuna, and I like it wrapped in a soft bed of rice. What were we talking about ?
