Charlie Steiner has always been my favorite. Real dry sense of humor and doesn't self promote like most of the other anchors.
I like Anderson and Steve Berthiume (sp?) a lot. I absolutely abhor Stuart Scott - he is what I call a part of "bad ESPN".
Where is the "back-back-back-back-back" and "HE. COULD. GO. ALL. THE. WAYYY!!!!" guy? no-cable-having guy here
I like Scott Van Pelt. When he goes "street" on the highlights, I think he's mocking Stu Scott. "Levitation Homes!" haha.
Van Pelt. The way Neil Everett has his hands while he's talking annoys me. BTW, Kenny Mayne's not on there because I don't think he's hosted Sportscenter in a while now.
I'm drawing a blank on his name, but the guy who does "The Hot List" on ESPNNews every day at 1 pm (mountain time) is my favorite. Has to deal with a lot up there, tons of guests and just gives you the info. He does drop some jokes occasionally, but they're not annoying like Stuart Scott's.
It's actually a Tenacious D lyric but I really like Van Pelt too. Gotta give mad respect to anyone who drops Aquateen references into football highlights. Also, his muffins in the break room ad was phenomenal.
I liked it when John Anderson was showing baseball highlights and just randomly says (as they are showing a batter hitting into a double play), "Marcus Alexander Bellhorn...you clean up your room NOW!!" It was so goofy and out there but at the same time, damn funny.
Patrick & Olbermann were both the best & worst thing to every happen to SC. They were easily the best anchor combo in the history of the show, but they spawned a generation of wanna-be's that were poor, poor imitations of the original. Now it seems that every anchor cares more about his style than relying on great writing and originality, which is what P&O brought to the table. P&O relied heavily on style, but they backed it up with substance. Not many, if any, of today's SC anchors can say the same.
i totally agree. their combination set the bar VERY high. i remember a couple of times (for whatever reason) olberman and kilborn did the show together. the comedy-factor was outrageous, but the substance wasn't the same without patrick as the co-host.
stuart scott isn't even funny. He just says a bunch "hip hop" phrases. "Shawty got foshizzile on the dunk" "Boo Yaa" Whatever Stu
This almost seems like a trick question since most of them are average and borderline terrible. Chris Berman is probably the worst and biggest attention w**** of them all. I think Mayne and Ley are the only ones with any shame. Stuart Scott sucks too.
