Okay, I don't care what genre - rock, pop, country, jazz, electronic - what is your favorite all-time song(s)?

For me, there are so many, but off the top of my head and limiting to one song per artist and to CDs that I own, I would say definitely these:

    Mother - Danzig
    Cherub Rock - Smashing Pumpkins
(You're So) Physical - Nine Inch Nails
I Don't Like the Drugs (But the Drugs Like Me) - Marilyn Manson
    Silence - Delerium
    Cloudbusting - Kate Bush
    Alive Alone - Chemical Brothers
    1963 - New Order
Love Will Tear Us Apart - Joy Division
Train in Vain - The Clash
Little Fluffy Clouds - The Orb
Halcyon and On and On - Orbital
    Icct Hedral - Aphex Twin
How to Disappear Completely - Radiohead
    My Hero - Foo Fighters
    Creep - Stone Temple Pilots
    Jeremy - Pearl Jam
    Outshined - Soundgarden
Hunger Strike - Temple of the Dog
    Ace of Spades - Motorhead
    Crazy Train - Ozzy Osbourne
    Teardrop - Massive Attack
    Black Steel - Tricky
    In Bloom - Nirvana
    Master of Puppets - Metallica
    Gravity of Love - Enigma
    Sober - Tool
    Fire Woman - The Cult
    Bodyrock - Moby
    Elsewhere - Sarah McLachlan

I guess that is enough for now. I just couldn't limit myself to 10, and probably 30 is too few for as much music as I like to listen to. However, these came to me pretty easily off the top of my head, so it seemed like the right amount.

You do realize that this is a cover (however warped) of a Public Enemy song? ;)

    My choices:

Ballad of El Goodo - Big Star
    Lucky - Radiohead
    Protection - Massive Attack
Femme Fatale - Velvet Underground and Nico
    I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For - U2
    Driver 8 - R.E.M
What's Going On - Marvin Gaye
    Single - Deconstruction
Wrapped Around Your Finger - The Police
    Yesterday - The Beatles

I tend to view less-structured music as compositions rather than songs, especially when there is a good amount of improvisation (i.e. jazz).

Edit - you may notice new songs popping up on this and that is because I tend to think of additions as time progresses.

Yea, I knew that the Tricky song was a cover but I didn't know who originally did it first.

Question for you or anyone else that can answer:

The NIN song that I listed is also a cover. Who did the original version of (You're So) Physical?

    My favorite song is:

"Manny needs to stop starting these stupid threds" by The Low Self-Esteemed Losers.

    It kicks ass.

'But I've been trying hard against unbelievable odds...' I *love* 'The Ballad of El Goodo', Subtomic. And 'Thirteen' too. The Tricky version of 'Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos' would be up there for me as well. 'I'm a black man, so I could never be a veteran...'

Manny, this is way too difficult! Do you realise that Elvis and I have a combination album count of, like, thousands and thousands? There's no *possible* way I could make a short list of songs. Sheeeeit, I had trouble making a 'top 100 albums' list once...

OK, I just tried thinking about it for ten minutes and I couldn't even limit myself to a top thirty list of a combination of three small things: soul songs, Beatles songs and Costello songs. My brain is about to explode. Curse you, Ramirez! ;)

My thoughts are that people hate in others what they hate about themselves. Maybe you are scared people will find out that behind that front of a big-ego guy behind a computer is a low-esteemed loser that's trying to convince everyone he's not.

Sub - you are correct about Adam Ant doing the original (You're So Physical).

Yea, I know dimise. It was hard for me because I left out so many good ones by groups like Utah Saints, AC/DC, Everclear, Peter Gabriel, and Pantera just to name a few.

I thought that there might have been a song or track (for those of you who like music without words) that just jumped out at you.

BTW - gee, rimmy, tell me how you really feel about me.

I would try to come up with something clever and pretentious as you, oh intellectually superior one, but I'll just say that you suck and be done with it.

What does this have to do with reality? I have been here ten years and learned that this is not reality.

I just try to fill roles.

Well, duh...tell me something I don't know. Every thread here has nothing to do with *reality*.

Well, why do you bother yourself with reading this thread or that matter this BBS if you really feel this way?? Why not do something more constructive with your time and "realistic" like reading or whatever & let the ones who like to indulge in "fantasy" do it...in other words, humor us.

What..that of an *******?? Seriously, I think you are okay, rimmy, but you do have this annoying habit of saying really condescending and insufferable things to posters that really don't know you like chievous minniefield or barely know you like me. Then you always say some bullsh!t excuse like, "Oh I didn't know that you would get mad at my subtle bit of humor." When you are always having to explain your actions like that, that should be a sign that is telling you that you need to either change that little schtick of yours completely or stick to doing it to posters like Crisco or Smeg who really "get" rimbaud's humor.
