What is your favorite rock song? I know that rock has various categories like metal, grunge, alternative, etc., but I'm just talking about overall rock music. My top 10 (for now) are as follows: 1) Hunger Strike - Temple of the Dog 2) Tonight, Tonight - Smashing Pumpkins 3) Stinkfist - Tool 4) Closer - Nine Inch Nails 5) My Hero - Foo Fighters 6) In Bloom - Nirvana 7) Jeremy - Pearl Jam 8) Black Hole Sun - Soundgarden 9) We Die Young - Alice in Chains 10) Sober - Tool
Wow, this is a tough question. I'm always game to talk about things such as this.....let me say that "Santa Monica" by Everclear is the first song to come to mind. I'll be back with more later.
I could really go on forever about this, but off the top of my head, there are some songs that scream "Rock n Roll" to me: "Living After Midnight" by Judas Priest "Kickstart My Heart" by Motley Crue "Santa Monica" by Everclear "I Want You to Want Me" by Cheap Trick "Talk Dirty to Me" by Poison "The Way It Is" by Tesla "Paradise City" by Guns N Roses "Satisfaction" by the Rolling Stones "Revolution" by the Beatles "Rock and Roll All Nite" by KISS "Crazy Train" by Ozzy Osbourne "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" by Queen "Rock and Roll" by Led Zeppelin As well as several songs by the following: AC/DC Van Halen The Cult Aerosmith The Yo-yo's Thin Lizzy Sweet Lit Alice Cooper Def Leppard Hanoi Rocks Bon Jovi Scorpions Social Distortion Supersuckers Toadies The Wildhearts Ramones Faster Pussycat King's X Buckcherry I'm sure I've left a bunch out.
In no particular order... "You Give Love a Bad Name" Bon Jovi "Gimme Three Steps" Lynard Skynard "Eat the Rich" Aerosmith "Princes of the Universe" Queen "Centerfold" J. Geils Band "Plush" Stone Temple Pilots "Tom Sawyer" Rush "In These Arms" Bon Jovi "Dr. Feelgood" Motley Crue ... and anything by Styx.
Currently my favorites are: Good Charlotte - "The Little Things" Nickelback - "How You Remind Me" Saves The Day - "At Your Funeral" SR-71 - "Right Now" Green Day - "Good Riddance" Eve 6 - "Here's to the Night" Sum 41 - "Fat Lip"
Well, I appreciate that, Freak. I know that I have been a complete ass to you, and I just want to tell you that I am sorry for acting that way. There's no need for personal attacks here, and although I had rationalized in my mind that it was okay, there was no excuse for it. Unfortunately, I let my ego get in the way, and I am a little high-strung from time to time, if you didn't already noticed that. You are very strong in your convictions and your style is a no-nonsense one. Although I don't agree with you on alot of things, I admire the guts you show by posting stuff that is not going to be popular with others. So, I just want to put the past behind me concerning you, and I will try to do a better job of just clamming up on Olajuwon. My rock collection unfortunately is lagging, but I plan on getting some Motorhead and "The Blizzard of Oz" plus some Deftones, A Perfect Circle, FLA, Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, and Nirvana. Seeing some other songs reminded me of these: Man in the Box - Alice in Chains Iron Man - Black Sabbath Head Like a Hole - NIN Cherub Rock - Smashing Pumpkins Bullet with Butterfly Wings - Smashing Pumpkins Stardog Champion - Mother Love Bone Airbag - Radiohead Black Star - Radiohead Spoonman - Soundgarden LaGrange - ZZ Top Caught Up in You - 38 Special Was I Right Or Wrong - Lynyrd Skynyrd Juke Joint Jezebel - KMFDM
I wouldn't say you've been a "complete ass", it's just an internet message board, after all. I know full well that I can be annoying on this board, but I'm just having fun. I'd love to hang out with anyone on here, and I'm sure we'd all have a great time. You really let your guard down in that last post, I'm way impressed. I was willing to move on before you even posted all that. Again, this is all just for fun, it's not real life (well, except for the music threads ). Motorhead? Wow! Hope you can handle 'em. May I ask why you have the urge to bang your head like that? Good song!
I know what you're saying. I just get carried away sometimes. I guess I enjoy pulling people's chains from time to time. However, in real life, I would be the last person who would try to piss someone else off to their face. I actually don't like confrontations, but with an Internet message board, it makes it extremely easy to do because of the anonymity (probably misspelled that, but I'm out of crispee's contest, so it doesn't matter) and that we don't see each other's faces. But regardless of that, it still doesn't make it right to intentionally hurt someone's feelings just because there's a difference of opinion. My musical taste a year ago was pitiful, IMO. I was such a sucker for anything that was catchy which is pretty much top 40 radio. However, I heard "Southside" by Moby one night, and it changed my life forever. I have gotten into techno/electronica music as well as some ambient and new age stuff, but I have always liked music that has guitars in it, especially ones with heavy riffs. I try to be a music historian, somewhat, and I found out about Motorhead probably 6 months ago when VH-1 was doing their Top 100 hard rock artists of all-time. Now, that I have gotten about every techno/electronica CD that I would want, it's time to build a jazz collection and a hard rock one. I just love stuff that has great bass, a beat, and guitars to it. I'll tell you an album that has all 3 of those....Mezzanine by Massive Attack. Great, great CD...anyway I digress. Nothing gets the adrenaline pumping like hearing something like "In Bloom" by Nirvana or "Stinkfist" by Tool and just hearing those incredible, pounding riffs! It's funny but I rarely ever buy a CD for the lyrics. I am a Christian and many of my friends can't understand why I like some of the bands that I do, especially NIN and Tool, but it's the way the song sounds that gets me to buy it, not the message. That topic is really one that should be discussed in another thread for another time. If I like the Motorhead and "The Blizzard of Ozz", I will probably continue with bands like Danzig, Slayer, Pantera, early Metallica, and Megadeth. BTW - Freak, I consider you one of my 5 favorite "music" posters along with Jeff, chievous minniefield, subtomic, and Lynus302.
Some of my favs Tool - "Sober" NIN - "Physical" (don't know the name to the song, it's a bonus track on one of their old cds) Smashing Pumpkins - "Cherub Rock" Weezer - "Hashpipe" Korn - "Adidas" Soundgarden - "Somewhere" Pantera - "shedding skin" that's about all I can think of
Some excellent choices, CK. "Physical" is off the "Broken" EP and you're right that it is one of the 2 hidden tracks along with "Suck". "Physical" is the name of the song and it's an old Adam Ant song if you can believe that!
1) radiohead - the bends 2) radiohead - blackstar 3) radiohead - fake plastic trees 4) radiohead - the national anthem 5) radiohead - just 6) radiohead - lucky 7) oasis - supersonic 8) Beatles - Helter Skelter 9) Ben Folds Five - Army 10) Travis - Why Does it Always Rain on Me yeah i do like radiohead.
yup that's it. I had gotten that cd for the video they played on it on MTV. (Can't remember the name of that song either, sucks, one of the many cds that was stolen from me) I heard that song and knew it was a remake of what I considered a weak song, but it just sounded awesome and it quickly became my fav from that cd. I also like that new one from Lit - "Lipstick and Bruises" and bush - "greedy fly"
Hate to be a spoilsport again, but I just can't pick a favorite rock song. I don't think I could even pick 10 favorite rock songs. Not because I have a thing about picking favorites, but because my tastes are mercurial enough that by the time I finish my list, I want to change it already. But here are a few that I like rocking out to (just not necessarily "favorites"): Ocean Size - Jane's Addiction Ace of Spades - Motorhead No Remorse - Metallica Banned in D.C. - Bad Brains Flower - Soundgarden One of These Days - Pink Floyd Gimme, Gimme, Gimme - Black Flag Search and Destroy - The Stooges Sweet Leaf - Black Sabbath Got Me Under Pressure - ZZ Top Guns N' Roses - Mr. Brownstone Thank you for the compliment. I really didn't mean to rain on your parade in the "Greatest Musical Artists" thread, but I anticipated an argument like the one between Hayes and Freak. Although I have to admit, I would never in a million years have predicted that the band at the center of the argument would be Tesla.
Going Rob Gordon style here are my top 5: 5.breathe-pink floyd 4.know your enemy-ratm 3.our lips are sealed-the go-go's 2.1,2,3-311 1.use of time-311
