i thought this would be a good place for us to mention some of our favorite places in houston to grub... i know there are a helluva lot of excellent dining establishments around our glorious city that many of us have never been to or may never have known that they even exist. i went to Dharma cafe in the heights for brunch today and was quite impressed.... the food was good and had a nice urban-feeling atmosphere. also like onion creek's take on pub grub (fantastic personal pizzas) to complement there solid beer selection, coffee, and wine.... great patio (that can get pretty crowded on nice days or happy hour) with a very austin feel to it which is appropriate b/c it was started by 2 guys from UT i believe. so let's here 'em.

"888" on woodridge and 45 S very good chinese/vietnamese it would help if y'all would post location w/ restaraunt
nice to see some london sizzlers love, but the food there isn't traditional indian, it's actually more of an indian/african hybrid.... owner is an indian from kenya who's good friends with my brother-in-law. we go once every 3 or 4 weeks. another good indian restaurant is kiran's (located at the old bombay palace). only been there once, but the food was terrific. the chef/owner is a very nice lady and told us her food isn't really traditional indian either, more of an "indian fusion," her words. amerigos in the woodlands (owner is a very good family friend) and prego in the village are both phenomenal italian places.... really want to try damians (that's the one in midtown, right?) yeah, we definitely need locations.
off the top of my head... Chuy's - great Tex-Mex at a good price. El Tiempo - Great tex mex. Expensive. Freebird's - by far, the greatest giant burrito in town (regardless of what anyone else says) 59 Diner - great diner food at a good price James Coney Island - a staple for hot dogs in Houston Magnolia Bar & Grill - get the boiled crawfish Pappadeaux Cajun - they ain't cheap, but the crawfish ettoufé is excellent. Kim Son Chinese Food (Americanized) downtown Antoine's Po boys - (though they're overpriced a bit) Fuzzy's Pizza Buffalo Wild Wings - good chicken wings (cheap on Tuesdays) and a fun time I think I'm just a cheap guy 'cause most restaurants today seem to charge WAY too much for their food. Also haven't found the good burger joint. I hear Christians Totem is good, but I've never been there, even though I live less than a mile away. I have not yet found an Italian food restaurant that has a good balance of food quality and price. Most are overpriced for food that is just decent.
I luv that place. When I visit the parents I pick up a slice. I was practically raised on the stuff when it was located inside West Oaks Mall.
brother's pizza is awesome... at least the one on cypresswood in spring was. best new york style pizza in town.
