Hadn't done one of these in a while and decided not to do a poll...:)

I am going to go with "Laughing" off "Murmur" but just barely over "Man on the Moon" and "It's the End of the World".

wow, great thread idea. I'd have to go with...

    Radio Free Europe
    Begin the Begin
    Nightswimming
    The Lifting

Not sure which to pick - will probably go with "Nightswimming" for personal/sentimental value.

I admit to not quite having all the albums (hey, CDs are expensive). My favorite whole album is Document, but not for any individual songs; rather on the strength of the whole thing. I like some stuff from every era of REM, even the recent stuff (just not most of it).

Talk About the Passion because it's fun to play on the guitar. Come to think of it, ALL REM tunes are fun to play on guitar especially for a novice like myself. :D Lots of open strings and generic chords.

I'll probably offend all the die hard fans that have listened to all their albums, but I like Stand....especially since it's the theme song to one of most underrated sitcoms of all time

It would have to anything off of Fables of the Reconstruction, my most favorite REM album.

"Talk About The Passion" and "Catapult" for me. Old REM rules!

    What's the Frequency Kenneth?

The first CD I ever bought was Monster back when I was 12.

    C'mon, I gotta pick one?

    Impossible!

    Gotta go categorically:

    Best "old" song: Driver 8
    Best "new" song: Daysleeper
Best jangly guitar song: Carnival of Sorts
Best loud song (new): Wake Up Bomb
Best loud song (old): Finest Worksong
    Best quiet song (new): Nightswimming
Best quiet song (old): Perfect Circle
Best "weird" song: King of Birds
Best "pop" song: Man on the Moon
Best semi-acoustic song: The Wrong Child

    And yes, A-Train, I am offended. :)

Sweet list! I was going to list Perfect Circle but I didn't think anyone would know it. One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.

I'm going to have to go home and drag out my cassette collection tonight. :D

The One I Love. WHat's interesting about it is that it came out about 5 or so years before REM won Best New Band...sigh...
