So this would exclude electric/acoustic guitar, bass, drums, and piano. It would be instruments like violin, flute, harmonica, saxophone, or a not-as-frequently-used stringed instrument like mandolin, banjo, dulcimer, etc. We see so many surveys about Best Guitarist, Best Bassist, Best Drummer, Best Pianist, and Best Vocalist that I thought this would be kinda different. One of my favorites? Magic Dick from J. Geils Band on harmonica. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/NrjQUo37y9U" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Jethro Tull frontman is Ian Anderson. My vote, which shouldn't come as a shock to anyone, is John Entwistle on French horn.
I could post 8 or 10 songs with a mandolin, but this one pretty much defines the mood change of Fall to Winter anyway. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/luDgb5vVHuA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/6AoysLSHNSo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Jamie Muir of King Crimson - 'Larks Tongues in Aspic' and 'Starless and Bible Black" deserves special mention as well.
